best radio control?

I have been using an old 72 mhz futaba set and corona syn. rx quite successfully with 2.4ghz video for some months. Now I am repeatedly losing control, luckily not yet fatally. I have been able to rule out a lot the possible sources of the problem . I have acquired a 40mhz and a 35 mhz 6exa Tx on ebay ( determined to solve this!) and I am wondering what other pilots are using with 2.4GHZ video? What frequencies and what makes of rx's? Thanks for any input , foufly.

I have a Futaba 6EX on 2.4ghz with a Futaba FASST Rx and a Futaba 9CP with a FrSky 2.4ghz Tx and 2 x FrSky 2.4Ghz Rx.

Never had any issues with either or them...  ;D

Foufly where are you flying?  If it's the UK I'm not surprised you have having signal lose and problems on 72Mhz as in the UK it's used for walkie talkies and CB radio in abundance.... IIRC.  It was the 72Mhz band we were tuning into to listen to race control at the local racing circuit on Saturday.

Successful or not in the past 72MHz is illegal for model control in the UK. Ditch it immediately. Thank goodness no-one has been hurt by an out of control model. Your insurance company would walk away from that one and leave you high and dry.
Don't even think about using 40MHz either, that is illegal too. Sell the gear to a boat modeller.

35MHz for model control seems to be successful for most people using 2.4GHz video.

Yea, me too.  Got constant twitching with the AXN on several channels, using a Futaba 7C and Corona dual synth.  First flights with the skywalker where with a Futaba 9C and a completely new (different batch) Corona dual synth and I had several lock outs including one 3 second long failsafe that nearly lost me the plane!

So I ordered a UHF set so I can have trouble free control.

Sorry, I should have pointed out I am flying in rural France, and have used the 72mhz for years without a glitch; if I do have a signal break I  would be very unlucky to hit a tree or perhaps a cow! I have had more trouble with cheap 2.4ghz . Thanks for the link . Foufly;

I believe in France, 433mhz is a legal frequency.  Perhabs you should look at one of the UFH system - DragonLink has a very good rep...

Thanks again . I should have saved the money and chosen the dragonlink? I have looked at it and any comments will be helpful. I have been put off getting anything from the U.S.;insane postage cost and the full value boldly displayed! which doubles the final price.This company may be different.
I have been keeping the overall weight of the planes down to avoid that vicious spiral (bigger battery-bigger motor-bigger plane etc.)To do 3kms plus means a bigger battery (at the moment I am using 1100 3S or 2100 2S ) It's tempting though......Some fabulous flights possible in the Pyrennees
