Everyone here will recommend the Corona RPD81 - http://www.giantcod.co.uk/corona-rp8d1-synthesized-dual-conversion-receiver-35mhz-p-402647.html
Very good value for money and with a reasonable 35mhz transmitter you can get ranges of up to a mile. A Futaba 7C radio is a good choice, they go 2nd hand on ebay for around £70-100.

Yes a Futaba 7 or 9 will do you for Fpv

Turnigy also do a 9 channel radio too very cheap
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I recently bought the 2.4g Turnigy 9ch unit mentioned earlier. I must say I didnt expect much for $50 (Aus) jobby, but was pleasantly surprised as I got a LOT of radio. So far its been flawless with pretty easy set up and as an introduction radio I would definately recommend it. Time will tell how it goes later in life but I have no hesitation in sending the Tri to the limits in LOS.

Cheers
