I have mixed ideas about both PPM and RSSI. What are they exactly?

So the fy&hornet seemed the best available option for my wishes

PPM is stands for Pulse Position Modulation. It contains the postions for all the servos for the channels your TX has.

RSSI is Receiver signal strength indicator
It is a voltage that can be made into a percentage on some OSDs to give you an idea of signal strenght

After selling my Tricopter, I've just ordered the FY31AP. It's destined for my FPV Raptor, but don't worry about all that rubbish from alishanmao about how the FY31AP doesn't like the FPV Raptor, that was all down to the stock electronics which I have replaced in full with known reliable equipment.

arrived yesterday (missus was out) picked up from distribution centre today. I can't get over how small this thing is!!!

one question... which is the right way up for the GPS sensor?

it seems a bit strange for them to put their gucci logo on the black part if it's just going to be mounted upside down?

should the logo be pointing to the sky or pointing to the ground?

logo down, the side where you can see the edge of the circuit board should point to the sky

Just ordered two of them today, look very capable so I gave in.

While looking up reviews a problem keeps cropping up, the FY31 was freezing on the ground and in the air. This has been fixed though, its the extension cable going to the Hornet OSD, only use the two wires cable, if you use the four wired one all hell breaks loose, ground station won't work, no responses to sticks etc  ;)

What I don't get is if the two wire cable is used to share the GPS, then how does the OSD get the data for the artificial horizon ?

dunno but the setup that works is

gps plugged into the 31AP

there is a 4pin connector that has only 2 wires
ground to ground and pin3 to pin4

the connector with the white wire in pin4 plugs into the OSD, the side with the white wire in pin3 plugs into the 31AP

Instructions are not very clear on this so might save you some time, I wasted a good hour not realising this and kept swapping gps between osd and 31

I just use the black and White cable Ian, I used the four cabled wire for the gps extension, mine not locked up but not flown it yet though

Ok, after more digging around I've found out that you are highly recommended to flash the ap and osd with the new firmware as a bug was found for this freezing problem
