I have got a RP8D1 with a futaba T6EXAP. The EZ* has 90mm of antenna outside the plane and a carbon main spar. Yesterday I lost control and crashed with the aircraft only 600m away! that can't be right surely? My old Spektrum would do that. The T6EXAP is off ebay and looks well used, do transmitters wear out? The servos are a bit sluggish so does that mean the RP8D1 is a duff one? I hear these come in both "good" and "bad" flavours? I guess I should try a buddies TX to see if its that.

Did you do an Antenna Down range check?

What sort of esc do you have?? does it have a switching BEC?? How far is the RX away from the ESC?? also can you post some pics of your setup so we can help identify the problem, and yes 600m is nothing to what you should get

Sluggish servos is a good indication of lack of power, not receiver problems as such. To me that would suggest BEC problems within the ESC.

Ive had a fair share of duff RP8D1`s and wont use them anymore. If you get a good one that locks fine and you get a good range check from its fine, otherwise dont use it.

Its hard to check the futaba, but it should be fine.

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Thanks for  the help guys you are very kind.
the esc is a Ripmax Dragon 30x.
Antenna down range test-You put the antenna all the way down and see how far you can get without glitching with the model being held off the ground yes? I'll do it when the wife gets in.
I guess now my video is working so well it moves the weak spot somewhere else!

If RP8D1'S are suspect I should just use the appropriate Futaba RX then?

Where the antenna runnign there ? Not along side a crabon spar at any point is it ? And perfectly straight ?
