Unique setup for ailerons and elevators from one servo, elevon fashion:


Someone wanted me to do an unboxing but... it was a fuselage, two wings, a tail, a nosecone, horiz. stab. and some pushrods - nothing much to look at really lol

I'll do a maiden on tuesday hopefully when my gear arrives for it - have bought:

a) onboard vmixer for elevons (I'm using it on my 2.4GHz radio which has no mixing capability)
b) 2x 1000mAh 3cell lipos, as they're only good for a few minutes of flight

I'm having to use it on 2.4GHz because the receiver is small enough to fit - the Futaba 35MHz ones won't fit at all - this thing is tiny heh. Happily, it's full-range 2.4 stuff, not just parkflyer so it'll be good for a fair distance.

The plan is to get some of that nano 5.8GHz gear that Gordon uses, so I can do some fast FPV.

Next plane after this will be either an AXN Floater, or an FPV Raptor - I need to speak to Simon (BigNose13) to see how he rates it first though. I did want an Icon A5 but have decided to get a nice floaty FPV plane for more conventional stuff, and this quick little plane for blasting around with :)

Can't wait for the maiden.

looks good Steve, I hope you keyed those wing joints in when you glued them together, they have a tendency of coming of, O and keep an eye on the stock servos, mine striped the cogs.

I've taped them on as well Gordon as I wasn't convinced they'd stay on lol. I've also threadlocked the screws so they can't come loose as that would be a disaster :o

Looks good Steve, I have had a couple of phase 3 F16's and they are great fun even on stock power setups, probably not the best choice as an fpv plane but good fun none the less.

All I can say is... WOAH! :D :o

So, I stuffed it a few times while I got myself dialled in (having been used to a WildHawk, and not having any rates or expo on my 2.4GHz transmitter), but man - once I got used to it... *big gormless grin* :D

I'm gonna buy another one just so I don't have any down-time if/when I kill this one. Great fun, never flown an EDF, or anything remotely aerobatic / fast before.

Batteries are already on charge ;D

And only 25 quid plus shipping :D

As for dual rates, on my Jetiger, I found it useful to have rates set at 50% for slower flying and 85-90% for aerobatics. I forgot to switch my rates to low when launching once and nearly did a loop and smacked the plane into my face. that was scary.

I dont have rates, expo, mixing or anything like that on my 2.4 transmitter, so I'm stuck with calibrating my fingers - took a while! :o
