With our first little one on the way,  I've lost my back room to a play room. After seeing iPeel's centre of technical excellence (Garage), I liked the look of the wall brackets he had printed to hold his wings.
After crossing his hand with a bottle of vodka he printed me some.
I've only used one pair so far as I need to maiden my falcon before it gets its stripes and hung on the wall.

Gundummy

Great idea....

Not the wall mounts... drinking vodka that is :)
FPV - The unusual hobby of flying £££'s miles away from you in the hope you see it again.

Vodka is a critical part of the creative process! I mean, how else do you come up with concepts like this?:

With a whole bottle of vodka thanks to Brucey, who knows what's next!

BlueFlyer

where are you guys getting these wall mounts from for the wings?

See first post - a printed part from iPeel

Has that Ninja x2 flown yet Neil ?  How fast is it ???

iPeel

#5
I designed them in Solidworks. The STL file is here if you want it.

There's probably more efficient mounts though, a pair of these takes 10 hours to print!

It's flown mate but the GPS wasn't working so I don't know how fast it went, by the rate it shot up though it's more than enough for my talent level! I'm surprised how well it flies but it does have some interesting stall characteristics given the change in chord from root to tip.

Most of all I'm thankful for a full complement of digits after the launch!

Wow that twin pusher looks a hoot!

TBS have a similar setup. It's a big wing (I forget the size but I expect its around 60-70") with two pushers. Launching it is tough though and it apparently breaks every noise pollution limit around so they don't fly it much!

Have you done a build thread on the ninja Ipeel? Why did you choose the twin pusher?

iPeel

I saw the TBS one a while back but thought the props weren't big enough.  :D Mine's twin 9x6 which APS do in CW and CCW rotation, but it does mean a bit less area for control surfaces. I've not done a build thread but do have lots of pics of the key parts of the build. It's based on the Ninja slope soarer which has a lower wing profile ( read more speed ) and doesn't come pre-cut for a single prop like the Venturi which benefits this build. I think I'm adding something like 90g up front to balance it now, I maidened with more like 130 and that was really nose heavy.

It definitely sounds... different, but not really that much louder. Launching it once you've built up the nerve (more vodka) is actually quite straight-forward, again the overhead chuck is the best.

Billy_boy_2010

Awesome. Are they really 9" props?

Why did you choose the ninja? Their kits vary in price a lot but it's still a fairly small wing at 48".

It has made me think though.......the twinstar and MTD are popular because they use two smaller motors counter rotating at well below their max rpm which is more efficient than one motor running closer to its max power.

Wings also struggle with torque roll particularly at launch.

Is a twin pusher prop able to offer many of the advantages of the twin tractor plane- but in the much cooler pusher wing format....?

Brucey

Yup, there sure are 9".
iPeel used the ninja because of its thin profile. And I don't think he went for a twin pusher for efficiency..... More like raw speed and noise!

He potentially could have the best of both worlds.

With two motors he could prop cruise at 25% throttle really efficiently. Or at full throttle it would be mentally fast. What kv motors and wattage motors are they?

Love the wall hangers Neil. Would you mind if we put them in the 3d printing section too?

Bruno, I would make a mobile out of the two airframes and hang it over littleuns cot. She'll then get hooked on FPV when she's older and we're all wearing silver suits and flying around in space cars.
