ImmersionRC receivers are soon to be available in the Race Band spec.

The Race Band as the name suggests is orientated at the 250 racers. An extra band with a further 8 channels are available, this gives a larger separation and / or more people can compete each race with them.

5.8GHz RaceBand Modules for the FatShark Dominator headsets have arrived in the factory. Just waiting for labels and packaging.

The RaceBand-ready version of the Uno5800v4 will be available for order from our factory next week.

For existing owners of the Uno5800v4, an upgrade will be offered through our repair centers shortly

Isn't this only for the vortex integrated vtx only, or can you buy/upgrade other immersion vtx to use the new channels ?

Coyote

Right this moment it will be for Vortex only, but the new Vtx`s will be Race Band ready. Way too much money to miss out on having it tied down to the Vortex alone :)

What's the gain on this over 32ch?

The race channels have wider separation, to reduce interference. Using RHCP and LHCP alternate, you should be able to have 8 pilots in the air at once.

I appreciate the theory of 8 flying together but haven't seen anyone do this you'd think immersion would have setup a demo to show this (like spektrum have done in the past to show off dsmx with 40 transmitters at once).

I'm pretty sceptical if its realistic especially as you need everyone to buy all new equipment to even try.

We run 4 quad races using current frequencies with 40mhz spacing which I think is enough.

Are the race bands even legal everywhere? I know us vortex have cobbled firmware which only gives some bands and locks you onto pal due to a bug and lack of testing.

I haven't seen any videos of 8 flying together yet, was just saying that's the theory behind the racing band.

We had 6 racing at Maddogs, at least until the first gate anyway.  ;D

My race band reciever has the sticker of the dip switch position in the opposite place to each band than on yours lol.

Quite a few quads in the air together here

http://youtu.be/NvWzmfXMn7s
I saw that too. I think 7 on pad but only 5 got away we had five quads flying together on Sunday just using normal gear and bands.

They were all using immersionrc 25mw vtx and diversity duo 4.1 receivers all supplied by immersionrc so should be best case.

I suspect with a mix of equipment and channels you are going to get at any club or group meet would struggle even if some of you had race band gear.
