Today brought suitable conditions for giving the Mini Skywalker  ( that I've written up with photos in the planes section) some good FPV flying.
This plane's specs are as follows:
Multistar 1704 motor, 12 amp ESC, 1000mA Lipo, FrSky X6R  reciever, 3 Turnigy 5.5gm servos and 1x 9gm servo, Cyclops Storm OSD, Eachine Tx600 av transmitter and a RunCam HD camera.

The joy of these little planes is that they will fit in the boot of a car fully set up and ready to go at a moment's notice, and that means you can fit a quick 15 min. flight into a lunch break, and still have time to eat your butties! ;D

I was tempted to put an L9R long range reciever in it to give me a range of a couple of miles, and rssi readings on screen, but I wasn't sure I could fit it in.
As it turned out, I could have done, so - next time! The little Eachine Tx600 AV transmitter performed well and I had virtually no video break up in my goggles, which run on a diversity reciever. The picture from the RunCam was bright and crisp, so all in all, a successful little project.

whoops! :-[
I've uploaded a first draft of the vid with the goggle view out of sinc and no sound track, I'm uploading the correct one now, so with my internet connection, it'll be ready to post tomorrow morning!

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Looking at those wind turbines, it was still a bit breezy....flies pretty good for such a small model....nice one....Your Storms like mine regarding Ahr counter, its not calibrated yet. Looks like the roll giro is off a bit too, but I like small compact models like this one, with a more powerful vtx, do you think 2kms should be possible?

What  size battery you got?

Mine can do it with a 1000mah battery.

I'm using a 1000mAh lipo too, anything larger would be hard to fit in. That gives a 15min flight time, which is enough for most things.
I have a 10 turn  spiral antenna as well as a squew planar on my diversity receiver, and that will get a picture from a 10mW Tx at a full mile range, so I don't think 2 miles would be out of the question using a 600mW TX. the plane will certainly cover that and back on a battery.
There was a reasonable breeze blowing- as you can tell from the wind turbines- but that is normal for here, perched on the corner between the Atlantic and the Bristol Channel, I've found that a slightly nose heavy plane gets better penetration into the wind.

Hi! I've done a bit of research into mAh calibration for the Storm, and from what I have seen, a setting of 145% will give the correct reading. I've set mine to that, and will see how that works out on my next flight.

Yep, agreed, I have seen 130% suggested, or your battery usage is underestimated, which is as bad as it gets...Im waiting for my compact Skylark Tiny OSD to show up, it should fit easily into small models like the mini Skywalker....Look forward to watching the Skywalker fly in calm conditions.....:)
