Yeah great site but the app doesn't work for me, I even tried the paid version, had to get a refund.

I started using this after I drove a few hours down the coast to what I thought was an awesome flying site only to turn around and see Dungeness nuclear power station just over the hill.

One of the area types designated for no flying is:  Permanent Laser

What is a permanent laser area and what is it used for ??
You learn something new every day.

Cloud observations I think, but I guess all sorts of meteorological stuff. When you start looking at NOTAMS there can be some unusual restrictions. There is a minimum operating altitude of 14000' in Key West, Florida. Sounds odd when you consider the place is just a sand bank but it's because of a big tethered observation balloon monitoring the coastline - and the drug runners!

Brilliant website really useful thanks

Great tool. I've stripped out the URL that simply delivers the map, so you can save this to your homescreen on your mobile device and use it:

Good idea krikey but when I compare simply the map with what the app actually tells me there is a vast difference, eg different classes of airspace, important features, map features, precise current position, etc. The simple map on its own shows me out of restricted airspace but in reality I am in class d airspace with flight level restrictions. So I would be wary of just the map.

I'm pretty safe here but we do get the RAF playing around from Scampton/Waddington way every few days, they're either directly above where I fly (thanks guys) or following the River Trent to the Humber... thats why I usually fly early morning / late evening... they're usually pretty low too.
