Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to use this flight controller using 1x3way switch and one standard on/off switch?
I've just bought one and only have this option left on my Futaba 7CP tx.
I'm happy to lose a function such as auto circle for a start.
If I could make sense of the manual I wouldn't ask but as usual with Chinese electronics it's as clear as mud ;)

Good luck with your 41, some work some don't and there is zero backup from FY Tech. You may get some help from This FY 41 Thread regarding switches etc. The best advice I can give you is make sure you do the firmware updates for both the AP and OSD, never boot up the AP with the tx off or without the tx set for Nul and RC, if you do the cruise throttle setting will change to around 214% which you won't know until you try to engage RTL and the model drops out of the sky with the throttle shut. And don't bother trying to use the OSD menu to set major PID's but use the GCS program.

Another thing you will need to do is adjust the K factor for the ASI. To do this you will need to fly in a near dead calm up wind then down wind and compare the air speed with the ground speed. Then adjust the K factor to get them as close as possible. We did this, it took several flights but the result is very good. It is essential for Auto flight modes such as RTL. Also watch out for: compass not accurate on the ground, let the AP warm up for 2 plus mins before doing pre flight calibration of gyro and ASI, set throttle cruise to 60%, use geofence to prevent fly aways. If you get diagonal lines on the video out that scroll you will never get rid of them so don't bother trying.

Thanks BigT, I take it you didn't have much luck with one of these hey?
I hope it does work since I got clobbered with £38's worth of tax on it's arrival so HK's price of £75 wasn't such a bargain in the end. It certainly won't be a bargain if I have to replacemy tx too!!

We had 2. We returned 1 as it kept changing the cruise throttle     The second works ok now we have tuned it. We just check RTL at the start of every flight.
We now also have a MFD which is perfect

Hi BigT, Thanks again, I have just waded through the whole thread on rcgroups and still haven't been able to find out the answer to my question regarding the switches.
Plenty of folk had problems with the throttle management and most it seems chuck the airspeed sensor away and manage better with just gps for speed control
I hope that I can use a 2position switch and just lose the auto circle option, time will tell hey!
Cheers :)

Hi Drambuidhe,

Sorry I've only just seen your post.

I have a full fat fy41 in the Venturi Evo I've just about finished building that was previously in my Z2,  and a lite version in my funjet Ultra.  I may have been lucky but I've never had any problems with either of my fy41's , they've always done exactly what I needed.  The rtl has always worked, geofence worked the one time I exceeded the set limit ( although having said that it brought the plane back and circled overhead and wouldn't give control back until I restarted the tx   :+  ),  ABM works well etc.  I honestly do like the FY41, I find it relatively simple  compared to the MFD I have.

I have mine set up on a taranis.  I use two positions on one 3 pos switch to toggle between RC mode and ABM , my other 3 pos switch is  Null/ACM/RTL .

That may not be any help though, I don't know if an on/off switch will work ok, I've always had to fiddle around programming the "weight" of the output for each switch position to see at which point which modes were activated.

If you can get it to work ok,  hopefully you'll like it, though as Big T says, there's no support from Feiyutech.

Thanks for your reply Mark.
I'm away from home presently so can't fiddle with switches etc , but am able to research online as much as possible.
I know folk managed to work the Turnigy T1000 fc which requires 2x3-way switches , with just two way's .
If you accept you won't get all functions then that's fine .
Here's hoping I can do the same , otherwise I'll be on the look for a used 9ch tx.
It's good to hear you're pleased with yours , I hope I can say the same in a few weeks once I've installed it in my new FX61! ;D
