Is there a manual online anywhere with details such as recommended CG and control throws etc?

Yeah, I just like to get info like that from designers because for some reason a lot of people seem to set up their wings nose heavy with loads of reflex and massive control throws.

Yeah - Though I have a few ideas about battery configs that may help with CoG issues :)
I always do first flight with throws on a 3 pos switch, so I can reduce / increase in flight :)

Spent most of today in the Lab, and have sorted out the servo mounts, and had a look at the battery bays and battery configuration.

First few photos are without the insert, last 3 are with. The insert is made from 6mm depron thick, and is just glued into the bottom and sides.

Outermost face of the servo now sits about a mm below the face of the wing. I've got some alloy servo arms coming from the HK EU warehouse, hoping they'll arrive soon so I can finish that part of the wings.

Other thing I worked on today was part of the battery mount. I've looked and modified the plates by Campilot, and layered some depron underneath to bring it flush with the base of the fuselage. It (will....) attach using 2 ply plates. One will be glued into the base of the depron, and the second glued to the out side of the aircraft in the little recess on the bottom of the nose. This is where I'm going to be mounting the launch hook for bungees.

I started by cutting out the campilot plates. On the whole, their fairly good. My only real issue is with the plate that was designed for the rear electronics bay is a bit too narrow.

I've heard alot of reviews saying it's very easy to get the CoG too far back. I still want to get a fair amount of batteries in this, so I want to try and get one under what will be the electronics tray.



Just for reference, the 3 6mm depron layers bring the 3mm mdf plate up nicely :)


I cut a few layers out of Depron, which I glued together against a custom mdf plate.


I'll write up a bit a more about the battery mount later, and I'll upload the CAD soon.

I honestly think you won't be able to get CG correct if you have that battery in the back bay.

I'll have a mess around - will see how it works out. It seems the issue is that it goes too far forward. With the all the bits wedged in the front, looks like its worth a shot :)

When I tried to get a 5000 mah 4 cell turnigy in the battery bay, I had to have the battery all the way back in the bay AND another 3000 mah 3 cell in the rear compartment just to get it to balance
Honestly you ain't getting anything other than a 4000 4 cell turnigy max in the battery bay, unless major surgery to the middle foam partition which I don't recommend

I'm keen to modify the foam as little as possible. Maybe I can get a 3.3AH 4s in the front and back. I'll have a mess around when I get to it :)

Attached are the CAD files for the 3 6mm depron and 3mm plywood/mdf plates. They are a pretty good fit, but I think there's a few more changes to make to them yet. Credit to Campilot for providing the initial dimensions.

Next up will be doing something similar for the electronics plates in the rear bay, and the shelf of the front bay. Again, I'm going to use depron to increase the height, with cutouts in the depron layer to help conceal cables without needing to cut into the airframe.

are you using a ply shelf at the back?

I can see some ridges on either side of the inside of the fuselage in the rear compartment, I'm assuming they're for a shelf of some description but I don't think the X6 comes with one.
