Hi folks,

Hit a brick wall regarding some settings  :(

Using a Futaba 14SG on FASST 12CH with the EZUHF Diversity. what i think ive done is map Channel 10 and 11 for my P&T and have physically connected these to CH7 & 8 on my RX

I have assigned SW "SH" as my trainer switch but it does not change state when the pressed. however it does work when assigning the channel.

The 4-Pin DIN cable came with the Trinity HT but buzzing this out its a straight through, but reading on the web this wont do, it needs to be a crossover  :Dumbfolded:

Below are a few screen shots of my config.

This is interesting as I have had exactly the same issues with my 14sg. I got it to work (sort of) with a r7008 rx with the ht on 7 and 8. I say sort of because it would not pan or tilt correctly. It went diagonally. I tried all the settings in the fatshark trinity instructions but never fixed it. I have tried to get it working with the rlink UHF but no joy. I also have an issue with the status not changing when I flick the trainer switch. Also it will not drive the rlink or ezuhf tx from the trainer port because the 14 runs on too low voltage.
It's something to do with the cable. If you go into the Futaba site it gives the different cable configurations for buddy boxing different tx. I think that's the issue. The immersion cable is not compatible. However I have got it working with my 8 fog super 14 ch but that runs on a higher voltage. Maybe we should post this question on to the FPV Lab forum?

I too have seen different and conflicting issues with the cable. Am I right in saying that the trainer switch will only change state if the right cable is connected?

BigT

This is an excerpt from Malcolm Holts excellent book on programming the 14sg. It can be bought from Amazon for kindle or i reader. Well worth the money imho. However it's not much good for exotic stuff like this. In the second link to the RC group thread it says that the ht won't work unless the tx is set to 8 channel mode. They recommend plugging the ht direct to the module. Also the volts out of the tx are not enough to power the UHF tx. Well not on mine anyway
Trainer

This allows two transmitters to be connected and determines the level of control which the student is able to exercise over the aircraft when the trainer switch on the instructor's transmitter is held on. In order to use the trainer system it is necessary to activate it by going to screen 4/ 4 of the Trainer Menu and changing INH to ACT. Once confirmed it will turn to OFF. The system is only turned ON when the student's transmitter is connected and the trainer switch is held. This is a safety feature. If your transmitter is programmed for training and you accidently operate the trainer switch in flight you will still retain control unless a student transmitter is connected. Next it is necessary to assign a switch. SH is allocated by default and this is by far the safest option as it is spring loaded. The student has control while the switch is held but the instructor immediately regains control once it is released. When using MIX Mode (see below) it might be appropriate to use a different switch. Finally the Channel Mode should be set according to the type of the second transmitter being used for training (see chart on page 51 of the Futaba manual).

do you have the correct 4-Pin Din wiring so i can make a custom cable, as im seeing too many conflicting diarams.

So far ive only powered the UHF via the trainer port, so ill supply it with an external supply to see if that makes a difference.

BigT

I think the wiring diagram is on the threads I sent you the links to. Just be very careful because its very very easy to burn out the  pcb on the 14

I will confirm that the T14SG is compatible with the fatshark head tracker module installed in the Dominators.
I'm using head tracker channels 5 and 7. You must be in 8ch mode and the channels have to be set to NORM. In the trainer menu. You also have to assign a switch to activate the tracking system. "Act" must be set to "on"

The only option i have on the ACT is either "off" or "INH" so im assuming this is already set?. I have assigned "SH" as my trainer switch and also CH Mode to 8CH

I have an idea. Why not try and set it up with a Futuna Rex first. Get it working then put the uhf Rx on?

I feel your confusion cos I never got mine working even as a buddy box

I have it set to 8CH in the trainer menu. But it's also set to 12CH in the main TX menu
