I've been letting the guys I work with fly mine, it has taken a right hammering and is still in good order....

Had my first day today with mine.

Flew it only FPV, It was launched and put into the air by a friend then handed over to me. Next step is launching myself.

Put a 5045BN on it, on 3s still seems to be lacking power (my opinion - opinion with no experience), I'm running a 2204 2300 currently tempted to try a 1806 2700 I have sat around.

Try a prop with a bit more pitch.

Mine was the same on the standard prop.

I tried a 5045 bullnose. It was really fast but ate into the flight time.
Finally I settled on a 5040 which is a nice compromise.

Just got some 4S for it so will probably end up back on the standard prop.....

I maidened my hornet yesterday too. One of my friends has the stock setup which is efficient but to be honest its a bit anaemic and lacks grunt. I got the kit version and added a 2206 Black widow quad motor and 6045 bn. It has lots of power and outright speed and I'm very impressed with the wing in general. The motor has an 18 amp esc built in so ideal on a wing this small to keep it away from the VTX. I got around 9-10 mins flight time (fast flight) on nanotech 850mah 3s 40c, which had 11v left afterwards. It will fly on 1/3rd throttle or less so could get much longer flight time if I wasn't so giddy :D. Also I kept the rates at 100, just added a bit of expo and it can turn very tight and has a great roll rate. Over all a very impressed with this wing and power setup, just need the nice weather to return :)

8mins on a 850 3s with a 5045, I found I was using about 80% throttle constantly. I'm going to get used to flying this on 3s, then I'll be going 4S soon - as its the same batteries for my 180 quad.

Are you running 1806 or 2204?

Maybe 6" is what I need. But already for the 2204 already had to add 50g of weight to the front to get the CG rihgt.

Just to be clear, are people taking the COG from the very front of the Skid/Camera tray, or from where the front of the wing meets up with the skid tray ?  (if that makes sense)

I used the front of the camera tray, I think the instructions say the nose.

It's from the front of the nose and not the leading edge on the Hornet Simon.

Hurry up and get it built so we can fly.  :D

Pretty much done, just need to get a clover antenna for the VTX :) .

I have the standard motor as supplied by Flyingwings.

You must have a big lump out back if you need weight up front to get the CoG right, I keep moving the battery back to make it more responsive.....

Loads of fun though, just need the wind to drop again.....

I feel very lazy for not putting any paint on mine now.  Thing is I expect to share the air at some point with iPeel, and he always crashes into me, so I don't expect it to last that long.
