Given it weights about the same as a packet of Walker's crisps you do notice the wind. It was still quite windy when I flew it though and it was still easily controllable.

Mine is coming along fine, I've done some of the cutting and sticky bits.  Was especially impressed by how well the Por stuck elevons work - really nice.

What I decided to do, rather than cut in a straight line, is go all wonky and drunk as I didn't want to intimidate the rest of you with a perfect build.  I'll top off this effect with a rats nest of wires later.

Well mines arrived, i carnt believe how tiny it is, the emax motor looks quality though, its my first wing and first epp model, is anyone using hot glue or will por surfice for everything, i may use hot glue on the tags of each servo mind, i may give mine some colour as foam isnt my favourite media for planes, but i do understand electric planes need to lite, having said that its mainly for looking from not at!, iam actually quiet impressed with the little bugger and looking forward to assembling it just got to wait for my cheap fpv set to come from china

I think I used Por on pretty much everything in the end including the spars. Hot glue is good for the motor mount if you're impatient as keeping it in place for that long without it parting is hard.

TBH it's a really easy build so hot glue or Por will work well, Hot glue all round would make it a really fast build.

The only real head scratching moment is getting all the electronics to fit in the room you have!

I've not got this but a similar one from Hobbyking the skywalker x1. Only flown line of sight so far but goes well, certainly gets bounced around in the wind though :o

Well my cheap eachine fpv kit came today, its only a 25mw set but iam only flying it proximity and iam only using a spectrum park flyer reciever so really the pair should match each other nicely, the vtx and camera seem to match the immersion rc stuff that came with my goggles, going to try my hand a making a cloverleaf antenna also, ordered a pigtail cable with the sma connector on it but ive also ordered an rp sma to sma 90 degree so i can fit my fatshark cloverleaf but i would like to make a custom antenna to fit to my hornet, so barring a bit of paint for the wing ive got everything i need now

It's Wayne's fault that I pressed the button for one of these on Boxing day after seeing his Xmas pressie. The better half paid for mine as as well, she said she would get me something for Xmas modelling related when I saw something I wanted, so that didn't take long.
Fantastic service from Rob as it was ordered on the 26th and arrived on either the 30th or 31st.
With my son back at school today work has finally started.

Started my Hornet build tonight and it really goes together quick doesn't it! QQ though, what spray paint are you guys using for the type of foam Rob uses, I need to add a splash of colour to mine to personalise it and I've not painted foam before?

Your might, I'm on a bit of a go slow... I think it's the case of not flying for ages and forgetting how much fun it is.  Anyway, connected motor, esc, rx and servos today.  Made much motor ran the right direction and servos were moving correctly.  Mounted motor on mount, and drew around servos ready for cutting tomorrow.  Still not sure exactly where I'm putting the ESC and rx yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out as I go.

Use only acrylic spray paint, I get mine from Halfords but Wilkos also sell a decent range. Make sure you use only light sweeps and keep the distance quoted on the can from the foam as a minimum.

What Mr Peel said. Keep your distance and kind of 'drift' the paint on.
If you've got the bits you cut out from the battery bay, use them to do some tests.

Er help please,the hornet is my first wing and ive got side thrust on the motor is this right, bit confused as which side the prop is thrusting cause the motor is on the back not the front
