On the outside, that actually looks fairly reasonable.... however, I wonder:

a) what is this hoping to achieve?
   -- So what about people who don't register, or mark airframes?
b) I feel this could just be the thin edge of the wedge...

Q. If I don't have a scale and my drone doesn't appear on the list is there another method to tell how much it weighs?

A. Two sticks of butter weigh 0.5lbs.

dear FAA I have just purchased a second hand drone from our air force ;D

It says Predi-tor on the box I think but the writing looks Arabic to me ;)

I wonder how many Americans would register to an identical system - if it was a new method to register ownership of guns ?

If an American does not register a gun - using whatever current registration system they have - are the fines, etc. as draconian as those to be applied for non-registration of radio controlled craft ?

Sounds to me like the Yanks now believe a drone is potentially more dangerous than a gun.

Anyone out there want to swap my Phantom for a 50 cal machine gun ???

I see your point but an American will say he owns a gun for self protection. Wether it's true or not is another matter. Can't say the same about a quad though can you?
I'm not saying you shouldn't register guns but the registration of drones is just pointless.
