Sticky reference?

Any chance of a sticky post in here with relevant links to a few things like the FPV buddy box exemption, CAP 658 and 722 ect?

It would be handy, to have them on hand where we can access them quickly, in case we are stopped and wrongly accused of anything.

The links I have for them are no longer active since the CAA updated their website.

I made up this document and have laminated copies with me at all times... it's a bit OTT but its mega arse covering should anyone decide to be a busybody... it's just a bit of backup to show that we're not breaking the CAA rules and we only fly from fields where we have permission from the land owner anyway.

With this you can basically make ANYONE the competent observer, if they're happy to oblige... us regular flyers have an understanding between ourselves anyway that covers all the legal stuff in the exemption and the ANO

Thanks, that's a handy doc to have.

I have never had a bad run in with the police when flying, we had one sit with us for half an hour when we were in the car park the other week. He said we were a good deterrent for kids hanging about and if any busy bodies tell us to leave just come back a week later.  ;D

But when there is information like this floating around:

This is why having a physical document like my PDF is very useful... it's the proof that their so called "guidance" is outdated, and the ref number is easily searchable... heck, I even have a web link in my favourites on chrome (which syncs to my phone) to the CAA website where the Exemption can be found.

Of course, if the person is alone flying the drone with no competent observer, then he/she is actually committing an offence

the old bill aren't the ones I'm concerned about, it's the people who have been brainwashed by the dumb ass media into thinking "drones" or FPV is somehow inherently dangerous and/or invasive.

Had a busy night and just caught up with this post.

I've only had one negative encounter with a Mr Angry but defused the situation by falling over myself to answer his questions and show him all my gear. He didn't know how to cope with the lack of confrontation.

The pilot is not committing an offence if a competent observer is present. Its all in the exemption.
