Runcam HD 2 with image stabilisation enabled.

I found an image stabiliser option in the RuncamHD 2 (orange) OSD settings, it seemed to do something on the bench but not sure if it made all that much of a difference in the air, probably due to my extremely smooth flying style. (?)

One thing that is disappointing with the camera is that there's no 25 or 50 FPS setting, meaning the frame rate is out of sync with PAL DVR footage. Hopefully this is something Runcam can fix in a future firmware release.

It might just be because you've said it's there (subconcious suggestion lol)... but I think I can actually see the difference in shakiness comparing the live feed and the HD footage

I watched it in full screen on my 22" computer screen and at first I was very disappointed at the quality of the Runcam HD2.... so I checked the youtube settings and thankfully it had automatically chosen only 720p for some reason... upped to 1080p and the quality was there :)

so... considering how awful the conditions were for HD footage, I must say I'm impressed with the RuncamHD2 going off this video.

I'm not doubting the performance of the MFD AP, but god dammit I HATE the awful fonts on the OSD. ;)

Oh my god... it all makes sense now!!!

I was trying to do a PiP video a while back and for the life of me, I couldnt work out why it started off synced (right at my CLAP/STAMP/SHOUT lol) but a mere 20 seconds later it was out... of course... I have my GoPro set to 1080p/60fps (NTSC) whereas my FPV camera is PAL and the DVR records PAL.

I'll have to see how much difference it makes recording in 1080p/50fps from the GoPro

Have you tried using the runcam 2 as fpv camera as well ? It supposed to have very low latency

I hadn't even thought of that actually, didn't realise there was no 25/50 option on the HD2! I think my FPV cam is NTSC though. I've only had some brief experimenting with my Runcam but impressed with the quality so far. Seems nice and sharp. Only complaint for me is the exposure isn't great when in bright light, tends to make the ground quite dark and there is no WDR setting, or even exposure compensation options. I'm hoping they will add more control over the image in the app with FW updates.

It's also quite noticeable when it changes the exposure, its very 'stepped'. Not that noticeable in your video iPeel since the lighting is very uniform (the snow really helps that!) but I've noticed it in mine. Still, its early days in the development so hopefully these things can be sorted in the FW.

There are metering modes and exposure compensation in the OSD menu on the Runcam2. I'm now set to record at 1440p/30 so will see what the quality of that is like next.

WRT the 25p, it's quite an issue for me, almost a deal breaker. I'm trying to see what can be done with player to alter the framerate of the DVR footage to match the Runcam, but given how little the footage is out compared to the video length I think framerate conversion is something iMovie tries to do anyway but only needs to get it out by a touch to make a big difference. The manual framerate controls are too coarse to compensate well.

There is? Ah thats good to know, will need to have a look! I found my initial footage to be a bit dark, but the clarity is excellent!

Yes, surprising there's a load more options in the OSD menu that isn't in the app!

Plug the lead in and hook it up to a VTX / Goggles / TV and power it up. If you hold down the wifi button the screen will change to 4:3 and if you press and hold again then the OSD menu comes up. In there you can enable image stabilisation, set exposure and set the metering mode.
