I don't pay a lot of attention to flight times- 2 setups could potentially cover the same distance with the same battery usage with one flying for 20 mins and another slower model flying for 25-30 mins. I get bored after a while anyway and concentration starts to fade. But I know I covered at least 28km total distance with around 5000-5500mah of battery in the falcon. I think it was cruising at around 6-7A from memory but I forget in truth. Had I spent more time tuning it and tweaking it I would imagine I could have reduced the cruise current a fair amount.

I put my second multistar right at the back on top of the autopilot- it's almost on the CG here so doesn't throw it off much. The hatch still just about shuts when taped up. And I moved the esc to the very back.

If you're happy with the performance of a 4000 stick with it. I do most of the time. But if you had a real range target in mind- and based on your skywalker I suspect you may do (the falcon isn't a bashing wing) putting a second in there is an option. Over the summer I will see what sort of distance I can cover with the 2x 4000s. I reckon 40km is reasonable. What's the total range of your fully laden laden skywalker?

The only real disadvantage is the stall speed goes up a fair bit (and it's not as fun or playful)- which in turn means you don't have the option of really throttling back and enjoying the view/object you're flying around. The broad speed envelope of wings really appeals to me- but if you load the falcon up you do lose this a little.

I actually don't really have any interest in long range flight with this one. I'm just flying it on 5.8 skew to skew (might occasionally use a 3 turn helical on the goggles. I wanted it to be an easy pick up and fly plane... Skywalker requires assembling and a lot of kit to go with it. I don't intend on taking big risks with it like you would a basher but I do want to fly it low and fast/ around obstacles.

My Skywalker's longest flight so far covered just over 50km. I'm sure I could squeeze more out of it if i was really trying for economy. Thats with 10a 4S on board.

Yeah that third launch was so close to being another fail! maybe when I put the prop on the right way I won't have these troubles  :-[ :-[

When you put the prop on the right way it will go vertical on a full throttle launch!

Fair enough mate.

Just be aware that the falcon is such a flexible wing, and requires almost no fiddling at the field- it may become your go to plane 85% of the time- at which point you will want to broaden its abilities even further. Then that figure will become 95% ;)

A 6 x 4 Prop on a wing of this size..?...Surely not..?.....Can't imagine why they would call it a "Sport" set-up either, it will just make a lot of noise and not really go very fast......An 8 x 5 or 8 x 6 sounds more like it with a 1200kv motor maybe.
  Surprised it flew at all with the prop on backwards....lol...Says a lot for the plane though....I like this Falcon wing, but don't you think they are a bit pricey?

a 6x4 prop with 2200kv motor would normally be a "sport" setup for a wing of this size... IF it didn't have all the FPV gubbins inside...

a tek sumo is a little bit smaller than this and a 2200kv/6x4 combo is epic for a LOS sporty flyer

once you start putting batteries bigger than 2200mah and extra gear like GoPros, FPV stuff and an AP... you really need the thrust you get from a bigger prop

Although the 2200kv/6x4 combo works... I would still recommend the 1400kv/8x5 setup... it still goes vertical... trust me :)

You can get a decent 1200v motor for like £10 so I might just buy one and switch it in the field depending on how I want to fly. Really looking forward to getting back out and having another go now. Surprisingly the 4000mah multistar is only about 50g heavier than the 2200 turnigy. I think the aircraft will weigh the same with the 4000 after i take the extra weights out of the battery bay.

As for the 220v 6x4 combo, I will give my opinion once I've given it a fair trail. It was cruising along at 40mph with the prop on backwards  :P

Neil I like the Venturi but don't have space in my apartment for a 5th FPV aircraft  :laugh:

Yep... Falcon Evo build...

Just managed to get everything talking to each other as of today,  RVOSD, 1250Kv x 10" prop and 2 x 5000mah 3s on 1.3g with ezuhf. (thats the bench set up any way  ;D )

Mine was originally getting the Ruby AP installed but that got side swiped moons ago.  (Probably opt for the EVO 2 with Ruby now......once i've got everything tuned and tested)

Reason for the delay is swapping all my frequencies around...
