I pre-ordered the Oculus, can't quite justify having two pre-orders in so I decided to sit out the vive lol. To me the big thing going for the vive is the chaperone/room stuff but i just don't see it being all that great until you can cut the cords. If you are having a walking and moving VR experience then wrapping yourself up in wires is going to be a pain in the butt.

What I think I will possibly miss though is the ability to quickly see peripherals (e.g. flight stick, steering wheel etc) without having to lift the goggles.

It's going to be a really interesting couple of years with this stuff... I imagine the v2 or v3 of both the oculus and the vive will be absolutely incredible.

Yeah, I agree the cables are a problem..... but I've been playing on a developer set and it is just so absolutely amazing, it's unreal! (no pun ;) )

However, I've also got the Virtuix Omni on pre-order (for the past three years!!) too, so that coupled with the HTC Vive and BOOM! :)

I'm looking at building myself a 3 DOF motion sim for flying/driving with the HMD's... the omni looks pretty cool for the rest but i'd like to have a go with one before deciding if it is for me.

The advantage the Vive has is the hand controllers, they are awesome, especially for apocalyptic shoot'em ups! :D
