Hi Guys & Ladies,

I've just started dabbling with ezuhf and 1.2/1.3 video as I'm wanting to do a bit more low flying across the fields at greater distances without trees and bushes blocking the signal and also maybe a bit of general flying at longer range.

I bought a laserbcg 1.3 module (V2)  and fitted it to my dominator v2's  and a 1.2/1.3 vtx on the easystar in place of the immersion 5.8g.  I've just setup ezuhf in place of the usual frsky L9R  .

I had great hopes for the new setup,  but on the day had shit results with video breakup at just a few hundred metres.  A vid of the flight is below ...

I had a chat with Coyote about it here on shoutbox and he said he'd had the same problem with the bcg module.

Having looked a bit more on youtube there's this chap (vid below too) using one with great success.  He does say in his comments though that  he couldn't get more than 400m originally with the module when  the uhf gear was on 433 and the vtx transmitting on 1280,  as it is close to the 3rd harmonic.

I haven't had chance to try again with different frequencies...... and it's all a bit new to me ! :D
So I'll try a different frequency on the vtx or  maybe the uk frmware for the ezuhf (?)  and will see if there's any improvement, or give up on the idea of an internal module.

One thing I dont know is would my 1.2g circular antennas still be ok if I run the vtx on one of the 1.3 frequencies ?

The 200mw  vtx    -          http://www.surveilzone.com/1.2g-1.3g-4ch-video-audio-200mw-wireless-vtx-ws1181
has 4 frequencies but I can't find destructions anywhere for which dip switches to flick for which frequencies.   I think I read it was set to 1280 as default.

Anyway my Sh*t vid   and the other guy  ;D

Well I use ezuhf and 1280 with no problems. That's on the skyhunter, EZ rx in one wing and the 800 mw vtx in the other.

last Sunday we flew Gins ezstar with the orangelrs and 1280 out to 5k without a problem.

I use the original 4channel vrx with a saw filter from readymade rc. Deffo sounds like the laserbcg playing up.

I have used that same small 200mw 1.2G VTX along side my EZUHF...although I have it set to extreme hopping across the 430 to 450mhz band. The VTX is set to 1280mhz with a standard RD....NOT a skew.

I use a LawMate Video receiver though with no problems....If the UHF freq change does not work, you could try a separate VRX on a tripod with a tether wire....This would get your VRX well away from your UHF Transmitter, which is probably stepping on your goggle Module? I know it's not so flexible, but you can pick up a Lawmate VRX pretty cheap now.

Do you have your EZUHF TX Module in Low power mode.....or High?

Thanks guys,

I'll make a few changes and see if any help.  I've just got a 400mw 8ch 1.2/1.3 vtx too so I'll try that with different frequencies .

I checked the ezuhf and it was set to extreme hopping  and was on low power.

I've ordered an 8 channel  fatshark  1.3 module so I'll have another option / something to compare against.

If neither work for me, I'll follow Coyote and ET's advice and try an external vrx on a tripod, although I'm really trying to lighten up the amount of gear I take with me and fiddle about with before flying.

ET, do you have any info on which dip switches set which channels on that 200mw vtx ?   I can't find details online anywhere.

Thanks again for your help.    :)

Regards

Mark

Mark,

           200mw VTX Dip settings:

Dips 1 and 2 set to OFF

Dips 3 and 4 set to ON

          1280mhz.

I had to ask someone how to set it to 1280mhz as well....:(

BTW....You could set up a nice 1.2G Patch with a decent receiver and put it on a tripod on the car roof.....Then relay the signal via 5.8G to your goggles...? That would get the UHF TX well away from your 1.2G RX...?
