ET vector waypoints

I saw yesterday that eagletree have added a beta autonomous waypoints ability to the vector! I've been hoping for this for a long time, so I'm really excited it's finally come to fluision.

I gave it a test on my mtd this morning and the waypoints worked perfectly. During the beta there is a 1 mile maximum radius from the first waypoint, but I believe that will be removed. To be honest I think 1 mile is plenty anyway.

Either way, just thought I would give the vector users a heads up!

So what do you prefer? Apm/pix or vector?

Depends what I want it to do. Normally flying and ease of use/setup, the vector is my favourite, but for mapping or autonomous flight I like the versatility of the pixhawk.

I've not tried the WP yet, do you need a laptop with you in the field? Or can you create them at home and then initiate when you get to the field?

You could do the latter with the previous non-autonomous waypoints so I'd assume you can with this.

Yeah you plan it with an updated version of the software, similar to mission planner. Then just set what you want it to do at the waypoint, such as rth at the last point.

When at the field, once you select waypoints as the flight mode, the waypoints appear on the radar.

It's not just a settings thing, you have to go to their website and download the beta firmware and matching software, only then will the settings appear in the GUI

Thanks again for the info BlueFlyer. I thought I knew the Vector software pretty well and hadn't seen these options before so was amazed when I saw the original post. When I have time I will download the new Vector software onto an old PC and have a good look at it.

 That's very cool. I'll wait until it's not beta any more though lol, these things are too expensive to go flying away into the blue yonder never to be seen again lol.
