Could anybody recommend a cheap autopilot for my falcon that i am building.I have bought  a Feiyu Tech FY-41AP Lite off a friend but i have my doubts on how good they are after reading some forum threads. It will be being used on a 9xrpro controller with a L9R receiver.

Hi there.
I've just installed a cyclops storm into my Bixler 1.1 this afternoon.  I wanted a cheaper alternative to the eagletree vector that I have in my Skywalker.  The Storm is excellent and very easy to install.
The only diy bit you need to do is to solder some fittings on to the current sensor (I used xt60's).
The menus are easy to work with.  The only downside on my setup is that requires more space than the vector.  As a result the inside of my Bixler looks like the control room of Bletchley Park.

Went for a test flight on default settings  and it flew great.  It was a bit gusty but coped well.  The osd is well laid out too.

It is IMHO not as good as the Vector but it is half the price.
I would recommend it.

If you decide to sell the fy41 let me know. We have used the fy41 heavy for 3 years now and after some steep learning curves we have it working fine. It has some weird issues regarding booting up correctly every time. If you get the command switches in the wrong place n the tx or boot the AP before the tx it will change the default cruise % to 212 which is outside the parameters, then when say RTH is selected the computer just shuts the motor down! However, as said, if you set up using the FY GCS, use the airspeed sensor and calibrate it, it works OK. Oh, and the back up from FY Tech is non existent.

My AP of choice is the MFD which has been rock solid, but it's not cheap! Oh, and the back up from MFD is now crap as well.
Edit
I know of some club members who are still using the Panda2 and DOS units.

I have one of these,  dead easy to set up and works well. Doesn't have an osd though, so go for a storm if you want that ;)

Just bear in mind if you go for the storm , no PPM and no throttle control either ,
so make sure you set failsafe on your tx with throttle that you want

mrorange26

Is that the same on the one I already have the fy41 lite

Actually, the Storm OSD does support PPM.
