is Windows 10 worth it

It's funny, I can remember when Windows 7 came out and people were complaining that it didn't look like Windows XP. And when that came out, they liked Windows 98:SE better, or Windows 2000 Professional. Before that, Windows 95 got whinged about because they ditched Program Manager for the Start Menu ...

It's the standard response to any aesthetic changes to a commonly used item.

Best feature in Windows 10? Virtual desktops by default. It's not new, but it is new to Windows 10 in that it's easily accessible to the lay person now.

Win+Tab, "New Desktop" ... Ctrl+Win+Left/Right arrow to flick between the new desktops. Soooo much nicer than the older crappier VDesktop features. It actually handles window placement properly making skiving really easy :) Er, I mean - increasing productivity... Win+Tab is a better task + desktop switcher than Alt+Tab too.

That's exactly the kind of explanation a pro in any field would be expected to give. Personally I would never use, what was it, Win+Tab + ?????????. See what I mean, us mere mortals aren't interested in re learning what it's taken 8 years to get to know. It's like me trying to explain an unvented G3 pressurised hot water system and drainage to a Victorian Sewer Worker.

And yet you're planning on moving to a completely new OS instead of a vaguely familiar one.

Windows 10 is no different to buying a slightly different kettle. They do the same jobs as the old models but you're basically attached to the one with the red LED instead of the new one that glows blue.

People always resist change - of course it's worse to you, you're unfamiliar with it. Once you become familiar with it, the old way becomes .. obsolete.

Money grabbing microsoft soon it will be windows twenty it will never end :(  I'm seriously considering a MAC

Yes it is free but no good if your programs and processor and video card aren't top notch. Then it costs you a new computer to be modern. IMHO a Mac is for dummies, graphics, music and video people.

Another reason I forgot to put.

If I wanted windows to feel like a smartphone or tablet I'd buy one.

An os on a pc should be just that not an app based feel / look.
I have a phone to run apps on.

I'm never going to buy a windows phone so app compatibility isn't ever going to be there.

I don't have a touch screen monitor function that is wasted lol.
Driver compatibility - just when you start getting drivers that work on your current windows they bring out another os.

If we were all the same it would be a small world.

I run Windows 10 on a laptop that cost me £159 from Tescos .. it's not the fastest but then again I wouldn't pay only £159 for a laptop to do proper work / tasks on. It's for faffing around.

And a Mac is going to set you back a LOT more than a decent PC.

Well each to there own and the debates can go on as long as everyone if the world has there own brain. Thats a good thing by the way.

Everyone fears change. I am no different. After the first page of comments I upgraded and its been fine. I am liking it better than win8 at this point. the full app screen in that never worked for me.

The problem with all these things, windoze, Mac, Iphones, Android is we only really use maybe 10% of the functions and ability of the device. I made an effort with my last phone to look up the best tips for using it. Do it all the time now. Found a vid on the first 5 things to do after upgrading to win10. Learning 1 new trick can make life and the OS (no matter which one) So much nicer to use.

Cant remember what it was but learnt a shortcut about win8 after using it for 3 years that saved me 4,5 sometime 6 steps to finding files. Use it 10 times a day maybe. Add all those clicks up over 3 years. Its worth learning how all these things work properly.
