I was intrigued by this guys idea..... but to watch it cream in and then revert to a non solar powered mess is fantastic :goofy:

Part 2

FPV - The unusual hobby of flying £££'s miles away from you in the hope you see it again.

I really like it, but damn it looks so very fragile, completely unable to take anything but perfect flying / landing.

Edit : Should have watched the second video before commenting :)

Turns out my fears were realised within days of his maiden :(

So at the end of video two the conclusion is its an overwhelming epic fail then.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I watched this with interest too, I was eagerly awaiting his follow up videos but he appears to have gone fairly quiet recently.

I think the theory is sound, but his application of it is far to much "scratch-buildy" for my liking. The clever money would be on retrofitting some already in production large glider with solar panels... or a really big flying wing perhaps.

I've watched those already, still not what I would call a success.

Tough crowd on here - anyone here done any better?

I've often thought about solar, both the losses in the charging rig and the pure price of decent panels is prohibitive.

It's been proven to be successful though:
