Change of UK Political Campaign Strategy

This has been touched on in another recent Thread, re the upcoming Referendum, but I believe an expanded discussion may be merited.

In all of my (longish) life, prior to General or Local elections, virtually all political campaigning has been based on a 'beneficial promise' to persuade voters to align with one persuasion or another - e.g.

Vote for me / or this Party ... and
1) More 'government' money will be spent on .... whatever, schools, NHS, roads, defence, etc.
2) Voters will pay less ..... taxes reduced on whatever, petrol, income, inheritance, etc.
3) Voters will gain more ..... increased allowances, benefits, etc.

The EU In / Out referendum has been totally the opposite to above - instead of 'beneficial promise', both sides of the argument appear to be promoting 'doom scenarios' - e.g.

Vote to stay in - and
1) We're doomed to suffer badly from other Member countries poor economics
2) We're doomed to political domination and smothering from the EU

Vote to move out - and
1) We're doomed to suffer from reduced trade opportunities or trade tax benefits with the EU.
2) We're doomed to be weaker in international politics / with the USA

Anyone care to bet whether, for the next Local or General Election, political parties continue with 'doom prediction' canvassing ??

What happens in politics tends to spread.

Look at media reports concerning 'drones' - they also are 'doom' laden. I'm afraid that in the near future any positive reporting of almost any subject will get ignored, whilst the norm becomes to concentrate on any 'doom predictions'.

I can't wait for this bloody weather to get better, then we can all bugger off and fly, then talk about that.

I miss the days when we used to criticise other people for flying over built up areas or scaring sheep.

If this post is unwanted on this forum (as expressed by the mods in this thread), why not delete it? It's the low moderation policies of places like RCMF that cause mayhem,  and this is still a good forum with a lot of useful information so why not keep it that way :)

PS not to criticise the running of this obviously successful forum,  just offering my opinion.

I think that's testament to how Ian the the others run this forum, they gauge general opinion and act on that rather than purely their own subjectivity.

If people want to comment on it, let them.

Two years ago I stopped taking / reading Daily Newspapers as they all seem to have seriously 'dumbed down' - started spending more time online as I neither watch much tv for the same 'dumbing down' reason - prefer amateur YouTube videos.
