Just ordered the same motor then thought is this for a 3s or 4s setup as I would like to use a 4s setup and use my Z3 batteries which are 5800mAh and 6400mAh, would also like to know what prop this motor/battery requires?  :D

Apparently the motor says 3s but is fine on 4s with an 8x6 prop, that seems to be the most popular setup on these.

Me too,need a replacement for my FX61,my flying buddy is building one now so I'll wait and see how his turns out.
How does the storm  cope with v tail mixing?

I've got a sunnysky 1400kv motor which I currently run on 4S in my skyray with a 8x6 prop. Only pulls 20A at WOT and reaches 125kph/77mph

I'm sure that motor/prop combo with a 30A ESC will be fine in the mini talon.

Luckily I have a bunch of 3000mah and 5000mah LiPos kicking about, along with a load of metal gear servos and a decent amount of spare ESCs.... this build won't cost me much :)

Cool, 8x6 prop it is then, this plane just gets better and better, wifey took one look at the picture and said "would you like your son to buy that for you for fathers day" yes please said I heheheheehe win win

 Well I've made a (very small) start. A small piece of foam needs cutting away to fit my mg90s servos......


It's got bit's on!!!!!



Not too sure how to secure the servos with the way the top and bottom are open, I'll probably use hotglue or a bit of por with tape covering the top.

that's very disconcerting that the servo shape holes go all the way through lol...

I think I'll smear a tiny amount of PU glue in the hole, slide the servo in and tape over it to reduce the foaming out of the glue.

I just hot glued mine in, got 90% of the build done on mine on Friday, just need to sort out the camera pan mount now and get the wings on!

I've sorted out the servos in the v tail  ;D I just used plenty of por, let it go off for 3 minutes to let the worst of the solvent out but so that it is still stringy/moveable. Then just shoved the servos in. I've just backed them up(because the holes being open all the way through do make me nervous lol) with some fibreglass reinforced packing tape.



Not overly convinced with the single sided glue on control horns either, again I've used por and will see if they feel strong in the morning when the glue has fully cured, looking at pics on t'internet it appears other people are using them so we will see..... Other than that its just a case of shoving the rods on and a spot of CA on the thread of the control horn connector thingy to stop it coming off while still moving on the control horn freely.

I never trust those sort of control horn attachments.

I buy my own in from gliders-uk.

I use 2mm threaded rods with matching M2 steel clevises. I cut the rods to size and put a Z bend in it. The Z bend goes in the servo horn and the clevis screws onto the other end of the rod and clicks into the control surface horn. That way in order to adjust the throw I just un-click it from the control horn and then screw it in or out of the rod to get the desired length.

Z bend pliers are a must! Love mine, I just normally use 2 bends either end now! Once you have the length it's child's play!

I've put the stock rods and adaptors on but I think I will go with Blue's recommendation, have used the metal clevises before and they are rock solid. The stock rods are really thin as well and were bending under load almost straight away!

 The control horns at least do seem very well attached this morning now that the glue has fully cured, I did order some with screw through plates but may just keep the ones I've put on(or not, maybe....  :laugh:).

 I'm stuck at home waiting for a delivery, so have done a little more to the MT  :) 

I put a ply floor in the support cage so it can be used to mount the Vector, just used CA and a bead of hotglue to make sure it doesn't pop out on landing.....



Then I've just glued in the cage, motor mount and one side of the V tail into one side of the fuse.the fit and alignment of the cage was a bit tight but I kept the spars in to make sure it will all go together later lol. I'm not putting the fuse halves together until everything electronics wise is in as it would be difficult otherwise  :o

 Thought about pulling the vector out of the MSH but didn't fancy doing it, then in a fit of madness I've ordered another one........ :o :o :o :o :o
