 Yeah, that's the point really, I don't know how far this will go, a lot depends on how long the 8000mAh 4s will fly. I've got a circular wireless cpatch to go on my tracker too, so certainly overkill for my current ambitions but they are of course always fluid lol.
I do often look at the ships going past, I think they are somewhere in the vicinity of 12km out from here, that is always in the back of my mind but would require lots of over the land confidence in the gear lol.  Capability to go twice the distance you actually fly is still no bad thing lol.

EzUHF will do 5km with a rusty coathanger stuck in the SMA port lol (I've heard someone say :) )

LIAR! ;) Just ask my crumpled Z3! :P Complete signal loss at 2.2km for me with the stock antenna and a dipole on the Rx. I suspect something else may have been a factor there though, it seems to be against the norm.

Shouldn't have issues where the antenna is I wouldn't think, apart from it will get a bit of a beating on landings! Got a thingiverse link to that module holder? I like the idea. Did you just make up a cable extension for the connections?

It should be OK, I used 1.2mm braided bike cable, it should spring right back to shape.

Here you go   http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1148788  Yeah just made up a cable, you do need some fairly long header pins for the module, I used some of the long angled ones that I got with a naze board once  :)

 Glued the fuselage.......finally  :laugh:



I used the wooden hatch nut holders sandwiched with another bit of wood on to keep it all aligned, when I took the bolt out this morning the bloody nut fell out of one!!! Not that I wanted to use long bolts every time I want to open the hatch,so will be thinking of a better way to hold it on.

Soon, I hope lol. The weather forecast isn't looking great, 30mph winds for a few days, still it does sometimes drop off in the evenings(wishful thinking), other than that I'm rearing to go!!!!

It's a race to maiden then lol!  Looking at the 7 day forecast it's 20mph plus for the whole coming week :(   I know this will fly in that but need it a bit stiller for a maiden, especially as she is a bit of a fat bird weighing in at 1.7kg  :laugh:

 Testing out my headtracking pan with my little 'assistant'  :laugh:  It's using this little servo from banggood, interestingly it doesn't have a stop point so would probably rotate a lot further.
