I've always liked the Durafly EFX Racer as it goes like stink and looks really cool. I don't have one yet, but while I was looking on flitetest.com for the new Sea Duck plans, I stumbled upon this:

The plans have been downloaded, tweaked for my CNC and I've cut out most of the parts and started glueing tonight. This is the progress so far:

That looks cool :) Is it depron you have cut it from ?
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Its cut from 5mm foamboard, the kind you can get from hobbycraft. Essentially the equivalent of Dollar Tree Foam Board.

Thats looking awesome! Planning to FPV it?

Eventually, FPV gear these days is pretty small although there's not much space in the wing voids for mounting kit, so it'll have to all go in the fuselage.

I could adapt the cockpit to house a camera somehow. The Pilot would be looking along the nose and through the prop, so it will never be a camera ship, but could feel quite cool.

Today I managed to finish the turtle deck and also sprayed it red. I've used Halfords car spray for this as it seems to adhere really well to the foamboard and as long as you're careful, it won't melt the foam too much on the edges.

Next up is the black cockpit, which im 3D printing with the hope of getting a small camera in there.

This thing actually LOOKS fast!

Cool :)

I've added some white stripes now so that should make it faster.

Definitely faster with the stripes, looks the biz :)

My concern, as with all scratch builds... is that you're spending a lot of time making it look bloody awesome, lets hope it flies well and you don't bring it away from it's maiden in a bin bag

I've found it therapeutic making this so if it doesn't end well I'll have another go. In fact there are some things id do differently next time around anyway.

The first attempt at the 3D printed cockpit looks OK, but I need to taper it towards the back I think.
