FPV relay ... Lands end to John O'groats

An fpvhub sponsored fpv relay from lands end to John O'groats Possible? Considering battery changes of course and rebinds or not? I don't have the experience to know of we'd need to rebind along the way but logic says we will

Not to mention the number of people needed!

Distance is about 600 miles.

Flying LOS (must keep it legal) would mean a pilot every mile.

I don't think we have 600 flying members and 600 spotters ( you did say FPV).

Just the logistics would be nigh on impossible I think.

But hey! If anyone wants to give it a go I'm in  :D

Does the spotter and pilot have to be stationary?

Nope but I imagine it'd be very tiring and disorientating over a long distance trying to fly a plane from the car.

CurryKitten and Krikey did a video a short time ago doing some "mobile FPV" and it looked hard to keep up with at times!

Its disorientating when the car moves and of course you're not moving the same way in the plane. I suspect that a long time in the goggles with movement that doesn't tally to the movement of the plane will be similar to sea sickness. Legally, you'd also need a spotter in the plane as well as the driver (yeah I know we didn't).

There will also be times where the plane will go out of sight due to forests, houses, tunnels, gorges etc. and its 837 miles by road taking the quickest route ie. motorways. As you'll be flying endurance, you'd likely have a top speed of around 30-40 MPH so limited to A and B roads. no motorway driving.

It could be done with a small team I'm sure, and also done legally I suspect, but get some training in staying in the goggles for longer periods while being driven around to see how you can stomach the movement.

Sounds like a nightmare to me. Huge amount of legal hassle too. It won't capture the imagination of the public either.

A top gear kind of challenge where a plane flies over some Welsh mountains (lands on top and flies over the other end to maintain los) vs a courier going around the mountain would be good. Or across a coastline. or from Wales to Bristol over the channel or something. Both carying a dvd or a typical purchase from amazon.

Interestingly, I'd like to plan a flight from Lymington to the Isle of Wight. There was a live televised attempt a couple of years ago but it failed for some really odd reason. It's not that far!

Perhaps the whole "deliver a DVD from Lymington to Yarmouth" would be a great idea.
