I'd just like to say a big thanks to Billy Boy. He sold me an AXN floater. But it's not just the sale that went through without issue, it's all the advice he has shared with me and unbiased opinion.

I thought you were going for a Bixler...but the AXN will do nicely, I learnt on one and have hours and hours of flight time on it...Still got it after 2 years.

  Just keep it super simple, VTX and a Camera.....Mine are both externally mounted.....Remember to point the Camera down....With no AP, you will need to see the ground to navigate.....Have fun...:)

Pleasure mate- there was no need to out me on the forum though  :D

As above to english turbines- a slight down tilt on the board cam makes navigation easier. IME you want about 2/3rds ground to 1/3rd Sky visible when the plane is flying flat.

Fly the plane LOS a few times and get her close to trimmed (although I have always found trimming much easier fpv). When you maiden fpv- fly next to a large very distinctive spot. You WILL be overwhelmed up there the first time and get carried away and disorientated. As I have said- I like large lakes, rivers, maybe solar power farms, coastline, anything very distinctive. You will not spot your car or "slightly darker green than normal" field etc up there.

After taking advice the AXN seemed the best way to go. I've got an itch for a bix and will no doubt end up getting one in the future but I'm holding fire. My journey into fixed wing has been quite a complicated affair split between work planes and personal planes. Personal, I have an AXN and probably a bix 3 in the future. Work is an e15s and a Skywalker.

If you can fly from a field which has a distinctive hedge all the way around it then maybe follow that for a few circuits so that you get used to being in the air :)

IMO don't get a Bixler if you already have an AXN .. they're fairly similar tbh ... I'd step up to a larger plane once you need to carry more than the AXN can do.

Ah OK, I thought the talon might be a handful for a step up but I do like what I see online.
