Experience of return items to Gearbest?

Hi Peeps
Has anyone returned an item to gearbest? Did everything go OK? What type of postage did you use to ensure security of the item and that it actually arrived? I paid with PayPal. Gearbest want me to return the faulty Runcam2 I received.

That process is going to take ages.

Personally, I wouldn't spend any of my own money to send it back. Tell them to send you a pre-paid shipping label

If they don't do that, raise a complaint through paypal saying you received a faulty item. They should respond though paypal.

They might ask you "outside" of the paypal dispute to close the dispute in order to "expedite" the refund/return... don't do this. Once you close a paypal dispute there is NO WAY of re-opening it. It tells paypal that you are happy that the situation has been resolved.

As above- China is cheap but their returns service is notoriously poor.

If you end up with a spare runcam2 video out cable- any chance I can have it?! I'm desperate for one!

Billy, yeh sure ... but I'm sure they'll want all the items that came with it. But by whatever quirk of fate, yes.

Paypal always expect you to return faulty goods with tracking info before they will issue a refund.

If you do return it, ask Gearbest for the address in Chinese as well as English.
A company I buy from told me the postal service don't actually know English.

It goes in a storage with the rest of the non Chinese addressed post and virtually never gets to destination.
I found out with the following.

Speak directly to Runcam,they`re very good with customer service.
Mine had some dirt in the lens,I sent them a photo and they sent out a new lens.

If the pcb is faulty just ask for a new one, easy to change and saves faffing around with sending it back

That was my 2nd port of call. They told me to get a refund from gearbest unfortunately

I have a skype contact to a sales representative of GearBest.  He replies pretty quick to questions. Can forward to you if it's of any help?

Thanks Gav. I'll see how gearbest respond to my PayPal dispute firstly. I like the idea of them sending me a new board but I I don't think gearbest seek just the boards.

I've never had to return anything to Gearbest (yet), but with Banggood it seems like if you can make a video showing them the clear fault then they just send out a new one.  Some of the issues come from not understanding exactly how you are explaining the fault in an email/online chat, so sometimes you can just get a blanket "send it back".  In a video you don't have the English to Chinese translation issues.

There could well be a difference between Banggood and Gearbest of course.  Interestingly I had to return an OSD to GoodLuckBuy, but they sent out a replacement before my return could have possibly reached them ?
