So..  Recently I had a rush to the head and ordered a clearview receiver.

http://www.iftrontech.com

Wow!   I am quite impressed.

My current tests have been done just flying around the play frame in the local park.

For the test I am sitting behind a 6ft wooden fence,  then doing proximity around the frame.    All of this while using 25mw  (about 20m from the quad)

Now..   Normally I get lots of breakup when I fly like this.   Not enough to stop me flying..   But noticeable.

With the clearview...   Zilch.   Perfect picture at all times.

Overall..  I am happy with the unit.   The only fault I could raise is that it is a little cumbersome to change channels compared to the simple analog units.   Nothing major though.

Happy days :)

I will put up a side by side video recorded of some of the flights as soon as I have a spare minute to put it together!

seems expensive though, the connex is cheaper... unless I am looking at the wrong part of their website.

Race version is around £400

This is not an HD solution.   So essentially you get exceptional breakup  free video in poor environments -  with your regular kit

This is gives a good idea.

Sorry but for a 5.8ghz receiver that's just crazy money.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

True..  But trust me...   The magic is worth it :)

BlueFlyer

Might be worth it to you... but not to someone who needs to watch their pennies.

I "need" a car. I can afford a Honda Civic... it does what it "needs" to do.

I "want" a brilliant car. But I can't afford an Audi RS6 Avant.

rob.thomson

Of course.

It's  not for everybody.  Everything is dictated by our budgets

What I can to you is..  It's bloody good!    If you do have the budget...  If not...  Well plenty other options that are acceptablee. .

....

you spelt R8 wrong  ;D

FPV - The unusual hobby of flying £££'s miles away from you in the hope you see it again.

Nah RS6 is the right spelling, same engine as the R8 without the hairdresser image and room for a few planes and the dogs in the back.

Back to the Clearview...

Here is a video from my local park while using clearview

and this is one without it using just the goggles..

The difference.. is... clear!

FPVSteve

Personally I'd just spend a few quid on a higher powered vtx if I were going to fly close-in like that but that's because I'm a rebel. A cheap rebel.

rob.thomson

Lol.. perfectly acceptable option.

However you would still hit the same issues.

Each to their own.   I am personally stunned at the way this works - and surprised that the system or something similar has not been built into more receivers!

Give it a few years; and it probably will!

Off topic.. R8 is the V10 5.4.... not the 8 cylinder 4 litre.. my wife's a hairdresser

Lol... Is it me or is everyone anti clearview?    Seems to keep going off topic :)
