SnoozeDogs Mini Talon build and maiden video

After lots of faffing I'm finally at a stage I can start putting things together. This is my 1st "serious" build after only having built an AXN and a QAV250 quad.

A massive thank you to all forum members who have helped me being to this point. Thanks especially to Blueflyer.

Components:
Vector
Frsky L9R
Sunnysky 2216 1250kv on 4S
8x6 prop
4 Turnigy TGY-90s 9gm servos
IMRC 600mw vtx
Bignose skew antenna
Foxeer fpv cam
Turnigy plush 40amp ESC
Turnigy sbec 26v

And not to forget a variety of butchered cables and copious amounts of velcro!

I plan to be quite detailed on this build because as noob I was left scratching my head sometimes as to what connected to where, what to buy and what cables go where. Well that's the idea anyway!

I'll add annotation once the build is complete. Im quite pleased the front skid and l9r antenna holder came out ok.

Will that ESC be enough?

I'm pulling 28A on 3s, 7x5 prop on a 1400kv motor

Is it ok to mount the GPS module directly on top of the vector??

I carved a well out of the lid so it was exposed but pretty much flush.

I would hope 40A esc would be enough?!

How comfortable are you flying your axn now?

Don't spend too long building the talon- you will crash. And whether you spend 5 hours or 15 hours building- it will still crash the same........after my first heavy landing/light crash I always enjoy flying a plane more.

I'm glad the 40amp looks to be ok.

I'm fine flying the axn since throwing fpv on it. It really helped me get a grip of how much input I needed. So in retrospect I should have gone fpv from the maiden and then once the muscle memory was there switched to Los.

I don't plan on kicking the arse out of the build. As we speak the MT has been dry fitted and all (Inc Runcam2) the components masking tapped on with the battery in place. It's CoG is right on the forward spar.

Use the AXN for LOS training then. It's a vital skill.

40A is more than enough for the 1250kv sunnysky... if it's of any consolation to you... the motor itself will melt if you pull more than 28A for a prolonged amount of time... your 40A ESC will be fine, but you may find you have to glide your MT home lol

I'm actually running the same motor (albeit with a 8x5 prop) on a 30A ESC which has a 40A burst current rating.

Well my original plan of the maiden prior to the 25th is off the cards due to a 2yr olds expectation of father Christmas and Christmas dinner for a family of 5..... I'm the only one able to make chrispy roast potatoes and land a full dinner on time .... But that said I'm a whisker away from a maiden.

Thanks Steve. Very nervous. Butut I know more than I did lobbing my axn up and watching it crash at least 5 times before it flew! Plus its stabilised.

Have you set everything up properly including the CoG? You'll know if it is set up properly once it's in the air because it'll either fly like its on rails, or badly :laugh:

I was amazed at how much difference a little bit made on the CoG position on mine - aim for slightly nose heavy if in doubt.
