Well, I love the Drak, but it's too nice for me, I'd be too scared to enjoy it...
So I'm gonna try to make a cheap copy, and see if it flies.
I got a nice picture, printed it and did lots of measurements...

Then I grabbed a calculator and a sheet of foam, and a Biro and started drawing...

I'm going to take Blue's advice and use a KFM3 wing construction with a straight CF spar behind the (edit:second) step.
A KFM3 wing is kinda like this..

Now all I need to do is...
1 Work out wing area & loading, to see what gear is suitable.
2 Figure out how to build a fuse.
3 Figure out the COG and where everything has to go.
4 Get some more scalpel blades, glue, lam etc.
God I wish I knew what I was doing
;D

Drawing round a Scan of the Drak picture.....That's classy Dill.....Gotta see this.

Actually, the CAD Software I use at home allows me to import a JPG Scan, and then digitize (draw) around it, so it's not a bad idea.

At least the outline will be accurate....

Cheers guys.
I have no idea what I am doing here really - the Bonsai clone was easy cos it's a sensible shape - it flies pointy-end-first...
What I need here is devine intervention and a few miracles...
Which is fine , cos I have you lot to help me out  :-*

Not really feeling the love for this at the moment, but we will see...
Hot glued a 4mm carbon spar to the basic profile. The front KFM bit sits on top of the spar. The second KFM thing butts up against the rear of the spar.

The nose looked weak, so made two fuse sides from Balsa to add strength. I don't like the shape, but to make it slim like the Drak would mean I can't really get a camera in there..

Added a stiffener at the rear for the motor mount, and some magnetic cover catches.

I have a feeling this will sting like a butterfly and float like a bee, but we will see.
Will serpently look better once it's smoothed out and covered..
AUW so far...92 grams.
:o

Moving on, I love the shape.
