E.T.s Taranis Makeover

Today I finally finished off my Taranis makeover.

Sick of the bland silver casing, I decided to spruce it up a bit while at the same time installing the M9 Hall Effect gimbals from T9 Hobbysport. Paint is Plastikote aerosol brand.
The case is a new one, so I could paint it without any worries about interfering with any flight opportunities. Be warned, if you choose a new case, be prepared to spend some time carefully prising out the LCD Screen window. You will also need some new button sets.
Quite a bit of effort, with some careful assembly required afterwards. Pretty pleased with it though, the photos dont do it justice really. I went with the pure look....:)

                        Original Case and Stick Units...

New Case and M9 Hall Effect sensor Stick units...Note different orientation of the M9 units.

Looking good. I'm gonna do mine when I've worn some of the newness off it :D

Get the speaker mod done mate, it's the best improvement to my original one I ever did.
I'm doing my new one this weekend.

Looks good ET

I just wonder really how much better the M9 Hall Effect sensors are compared to the originals. The originals left a lot to be desired so I might do the swap if its really that noticeable.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

See that's just it... how are you going to "know" if they're worth it unless you just take a punt lol.

Like Coyote says, I honestly see nothing wrong with the stock gimbals on the Taranis plus... I'll only change to M9 ones if one of mine goes faulty.

The real question is.... do you have your throttle on a ratchet or smooth travel? ;)

  Hi Chris,
Having recently test flown my Skyfun, which had way too much Aileron movement on its first flight, I can confirm these metal framed Gimbals are worth it. My old stick units had quite a bit of time on them anyway, and the M9s feel totally different.
With the stick at centre, it is very easy to feel it as you move in any direction, no matter how small the movement.
If you fly anything that's fast and responsive, then you will appreciate them more I suspect, but just playing with them, it's very obvious they are quality units.
The Hall effect sensors also mean they won't wear, get dirty, or be subject to drift like a conventional Pot / Wiper.
Oh, and they really look the part too.
If all you are doing is the Stick unit upgrade, it takes very little time to do it, and the M9s come with Cap Head screws to hold them in place, not self tappers like the old plastic units.

BTW....You can have both friction drag, and or ratchet on these units, I have a bit of both on mine.

You know you want some anyway.....Lol.

Its your own fault, it was your Tube Clip, where you said..."You know you want one "

Caused me no end of expense that did....lol..

I blame a bloke who works for me...... Every time I say "I'm saving for something" he says "You're gonna buy it anyway, why wait?"
The new mini skyhunter is coming on and it's gonna go like stink (well over 80mph) so these new gimbals had better make me a better pilot  ;D

It's a shame that philosophy doesn't scale, Vortecks - I can see bankruptcy in his future lol .. that said he'll have a bloody good time in the meantime! :D

Vortecks

Cheers for the valuable info Steve  :D

Gimbals have arrived and they're fitted........ Ohhhhhhh they're sooooooo nice!
They feel like all metal construction, they look the part and there's a definite improvement on the centre point. Even compared to my week old Taranis gimbals, the M9 ones feel superb.
This will make me into a master pilot and I'll never crash again! :P
