E.T.s Relay Station for 2017

Having flown with both the small PCB Yagi and RDs, it is clear that the 1280mhz tuned Patch performs considerably better than both.
Never was really happy with the vacuum mount on my car, so my old Miranda Tripod was put to good use. It has a slightly dodgy leg clamp but other than that it's heavy, and perfect for this application.  This setup means I can use the Patch or whatever I like in the way of 1.2G antennas. Not sure if I need a magnet clamp hold down or something to prevent wind affecting it..?

Hi ET
looks nice and neat ET. I never got on with my relay on the car roof. Dunno what I'm talking about really but seemed to get more multipath issues.

Cheers Snooze....Yes, I got a little multipathing myself when I used the Yagi mounted up on the car roof, a bit weird. Never had any issues with the Patch though, which is why it's going back into service.
The Tripod setup also means I can put the groundstation out on the grass or wherever I like, although I prefer it on top of the car because it keeps it out of the way.
I really like this relay, its the best thing I ever did and is worth the initial effort I think.
Be interesting to do some more testing with it having used linears for a while, but I already know the Patch performs better than all of them, at least for me anyway.

Yes, it's a handy way to present the Patch and point it in the general direction Im going to fly. The GS Module unclips in seconds and I leave the Patch permanently mounted to one of the legs.
The Tripod will still fold away, even with the Patch on it. It's a heavy Tripod, ideally suited for this purpose. This custom Relay GS is the best piece of FPV gear I have, without question.
