Frsky XM+ pulling my hair out

I've got two XM+ RXs that I just put in different quads and I can't get either of them to bind.  They were from Banggood so should be the international firmware but just in case I've flashed them to make sure.

I have a X9D Plus and have it set to D16 mode but all I get is solid green and red lights whenever I enter bind mode which apparently means that the firmware is incompatible.

The two different RXs were ordered at different times so I doubt it's a bad batch thing.

I must be missing something simple and obvious but I really can't think what.

Schalonsus

Just reflash them with genuine FrSky firmware from official website.
BG firmware is crap...

Strange, I got an XM Plus myself only last week from T9...They come with International Firmware by default I think from Bangood.
Anyway, mine bound ok without putting the latest International firmware onboard, but I updated it to get RSSI out on channel16....It still worked ok.

What method are you using to update your Firmware..? and are you using the correct (Non EU). frk files to match your TX..?  I use the modified servo wire out of the JR Module bay to do mine.

Yeah using the non EU firmware via the Taranis with a modified servo wire.  It flashes them without error.  Really stumped at this point.

Try putting your TX in another room away from the RX whilst in bind Mode....?

Separate the two RX antennas, they sometimes stick together...Oh.....and the less obvious one, ensure your tiny bind button clicks as you press and hold it...Pay close attention..:)

Yeah, already tried all that.  I can tell if the button was actually pressed because otherwise I just get a flashing red light.

Just tried binding to a D4R-II to make sure my Taranis is ok and that worked fine.

English Turbines

Oh, ok....well the tiny button on mine was really picky, I used my fingernail to ensure I felt it click into the pressed position,,it was a bit tricky TBH.

Tx in Bind.....Press and hold button down, apply power...?

Yeah, pretty sure I'm doing everything right.

I'm going to borrow my brother's Q X7 tx just to see if they work with that.  My Taranis is an early X9D Plus and I think they did alter the internal RF module at some point during production so maybe it's something to do with that.

Hmm...I think the first move is to get them to bind to the QX7....I think Mr Kitten had a similar thing with his early Taranis..might be wrong...?

Mine is an X9D Plus, also pretty old...Before they started that silly EU Firmware crap anyway..

Sideline:

I have one of these Frsky compatible RX's that I cannot get to bind either. It says it's compatible with the DJT module that I use, but can I heck as like get it to bind:

How do you update its Firmware then Steve..?...Are all 4 ports for servos then..?  Says it only works in D8 Mode and port #4 is also SPPM Output...

Honestly I have no idea - the instructions are pants. I bought it to put in that tiny little F16 I bought ages ago.

CurryKitten

The incompatibility I found was with the S6R and the original X9D.  I've just loads of XM+'s though, and they've been fine.  i guess a question to ask is which firmware did you flash to it, and do you know which firmware you have on your internal module ?

Loopdreams

I've tried all three of the FCC firmwares.  Non-RSSI, RSSI on channel 8 and RSSI on channel 16.  I even tried the LBT one after I began doubting my sanity.

But the module has the international firmware on as it can select D8, D16 and LR12 modes.  It was made in Jan 2015 so it is a fairly early one.
