 :(

Just got this via email:

RadioC Is Closing

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time helping establish drones as a new hobby in the UK. Running a specialist shop requires passion for the subject, and sadly for us that flame is dwindling. We have taken the sad decision to move on.

We'd like to thank all our customers for supporting us, and working with us to build a new hobby that people can now enjoy for years to come.

Our remaining stock is now reduced to liquidation prices, and there are some incredible deals to be had while stocks last. Orders are being shipped as long as the website is accepting them. Outstanding warranties and support on components will continue while the shop is open. Ongoing support for existing drones will be provided by our engineer as a freelance individual. Shipping and support may be delayed during this transitional period.

If you have queries please email us. We are open to enquiries regarding taking over the site, bulk purchases, or sale of IPs.
Up to 80% Off Stock Lines

Drone Lab 1300 Evo 4s Reduced from £23.95 to £16.45
Runcam Swift 2 Reduced from £37.98 to £25.95
Betaflight F3 Board Reduced from £29.99 to £13.00

And many many more lines reduced including DAL Props, Flight Controllers, Battery Chargers, and more!

Visit the site now and look around for deals!

Yeah I saw this as well, no indication why they are closing either.

Dave

From the email it seems they got bored.....

Ratty

After they were caught selling clones of TBS products there was a huge backlash from the community with many boycotting them for life.

While this may not be the sole reason they closed down, it would have likely played a part.

Loopdreams

If there were no cheaper clones of things there would barely even *be* a community.  Unless you mean actual counterfeit things complete with TBS branding, which is a bit more shady as it's defrauding customers.

Ratty

Yes actual known counterfeits sold as legit TBS products at normal retail price.

English Turbines

Like most, they are competing with Bangood etc....its very competetive right now, in particular the Mini Quad market.

Clones are a fact of life, China has been doing it since God was a lad.

Clones and counterfeit goods are two very different things.  What I was alluding to earlier was that without clones hardly anyone would fly mini quads e.g. how many started with a ZMR250?  How many fewer would have started if they had to but an original Blackout?  Same for loads of other things.  If you buy a ZMR250 you know what you're buying.

But if you buy something from a UK shop sold as a TBS product and at TBS prices and it's just a knockoff with a sticker on then that's a fraud being perpetrated on you as a customer.

FPVSteve

I don't know the full story but were they aware that they were clone products, or were they just caught out by a supplier?

Ratty

No one will ever be 100% sure, but it is thought he knew what he was doing. Buying TBS products from somewhere other than them at a discounted price. It is like saying i didnt know the £1000 TV i bought from John the crack head for £50 was stolen.

Like Loop says, its not the cloning that is the issue, it is the selling as a legit product at retail price.
