I'll make this public later today, but I thought I'd stick this up for you guys to check out first.... my first video with a musical montage in the middle :)

I actually found Torvol via their racing drone backpacks, but they were keen to push their Drone Adventure Backpack - pretty much something to carry your Phantom in, or "Imaging drone" as they like to call it.  Just having my old and massive folding Naza v1 quad, I said this isn't going to fit, not a chance.  But keen to prove how adaptable the backpack was, to their credit, Torvol actually sent me a mocked up picture of the pack with my quad inside :)  So here's the review.

If I'm a bit overkeen, then I can't stress to you just how much I was in pain on a previous walk of that length with my regular backpack, but this one actually made everything comfy, and I'm happily filming carrying it, setting up the tripod to get some silly walking-pas shots etc.

Of course, as I mention, if you are only going to carry your phantom for 30 mins, then it's overkill.  But if you are doing some serious hikes with a lot of gear, or away in foreign places wanting to take it all with you, then it's a superb bag.

https://torvol.com/ are the people to see if you want to check them out.

Hi CK,

Really enjoyed the video and the pack! it looks massive on your back! quite fancy one, but the price's a bit salty...

any ideas if it's cabin luggage compliant?

Cheers

I don't think so, not just looking at the normal allowable size.  It's quite deep - most carry on can only be around 25cm deep, this is 28cm.  That said, I've certainly seen people take on bigger, and sometimes it's done on a cubic capacity.  It would be hit and miss though, I wouldn't like to risk it.

I liked the jump cuts when you were walking, very nice!
just a quick question, how do you get away with using decent music in your video?
Proclaimers?

whenever I have tried to put a decent song in my videos youtube instantly blocks it.
cheers

**If pics look weird, click on them and the aspect should be sorted out**

The music question seems to pop up quite a lot, and I really think you are unlucky to get stuff blocked.  So mainly, you get a copyright notice and will be told you can't monnetise it.  Whenever I'm going to use a commercial track, I make sure I've always got monnetisation turned off anyway.  If I look at the copyright screen for that video I see this

So it tells you what's going on - whilst I can't monnetise the video, there will be ads displayed, and the all the huge piles of money this will generate (probably $2-$3) will go to the copyright holder.  Not an issue for me, it's not like I can make money out of just the videos - I'd prefer to use the track I want to.

The only ones I've had an issue with is using tracks from Muse which on one occasion gave a "your account is not in good standing until you sort this" message.  You can check in advance by going to https://www.youtube.com/music_policies and searching for the track you want and it'll tell you the answer.  I have to admit on not doing this, because I've found in 99% of case I've been ok.

Examples of Muse tracks not being ok (and weirdly inconsistant) are

Occasionally the copyright holder changes, and stuff that was ok 2 years ago is suddenly muted, but videos generally have a short shelf life anyway.

if you're in the market for a pack, a quick heads up: HK has for sale in the UK the large Lowepro DroneGuard BP 450 AW for ~£77  (down from ~£180)

Good price on the Lowepro, they do really nice looking packs.  I've not managed to try out a drone-base-one.

Just as an aside, I saw an instagram post from Torvol about being at CeeBIT in Hanover with an accompanying picture

Anyone recognise what's on the screen behind them (hint: go to 14m42s of my video review :D )

I think you're now officially a Torvol 'ambassador' / sponsored pilot CK :p
