Hey guys,

So I reviewed this GPS tracker from PinPointRC.  They've done some sort of deal so it comes with a data sim that will send it GPS coordinates every minute back to a server somewhere and then you use an app on your phone to see where it is.

Here's my video about it

! No longer available

I wanted to run it past you guys on the forum as I know there are many of you that fly on different frequencies like 433, or 866 and perhaps 1.2/1.3Ghz video.  So I wanted to know if you had any concerns about having what amounts to a mobile phone sending data every minute.  I do remember there were concerns about how a sim would "announce" itself on the network which sort of sends out a big pulse type thing (stop me if I'm getting to technical :D )

So if there's any tests that would be useful for me to run it through, then please let me know and I'll attempt to do so.

As per the video, http://www.pinpointrc.com for the (somewhat underwhelming) website, and the code currykitten gets you 10% off

Not watched the vid yet, it's on watch list.

So you will have thought of this but what happens if you have no mobile signal? Can you check for it's network signal strength before you take off? Does it still work when it's upside down? If it's upside down does it report it's last good position?
Which network does it use and what band? Is it 2G, 3G or 4G?
Do they 'pay for the texts' for 1 year, 5 year etc?
