Hi guys, I'm after building a freestyle quad, not a racer so looking for different qualities.

I'm on a tight budget so what frame / motors / each would you suggest.

I want it to be:

5 to 7" range
Lower if than a racer but with plenty of punch
Separate Esc' s not 4 in 1

Tempted to just carry a Split V2 instead of a hd camera on top, is this a good idea ?

I was thinking a Chameleon ti or Rooster clone maybe ?

Which battery would you suggest ?
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

If you are on a budget have you looked at a Eachine Tyro99 kit: https://goo.gl/B6X5LC ? They are under £80!!! OK so not cutting edge at all but it does get reasonable reviews given the price!
Battery wise 1300 - 1500 4S 60C+. Some people seem to say a little more weight is helpful for acrobatics.

As for the split, they are reasonable if a bit delicate, ribbon cable wise. The only real down side is that a HD cam can be moved easily between aircrafts the split is sort of bolted in.

Don't get a Tyro99.  The camera is beyond awful, and even if you solve that, there's still the issue if all that noise in the picture.

I didn't have a good experience with the original split... which is why I'm off RunCams Xmas card list.  But the live picture was just beyond awful.  I'm told though (by other pilots, not RunCam) that things have improved in the followups, still not like a proper camera, but acceptable.

I don't have much advice on building, as I haven't done a build from scratch in an age !

Take CurryKitten's advice as he has flown many many quads and has the experience to really compare things.

The forum didn't show any responses so I missed these.

OK so left undecided on the split, may just use a Firefly hd camera on top instead. till £60 but a lot heavier I guess.

Because I didn't see the responses I started buying :) Let me know what you think so far :

Chameleon Rooster Clone frame

Matek F722-STD F7 Flight Controller With OSD, Baro
Matek FCHUB-6S with 184A Current Sensor PDB
Matek 40CH VTX HV Video Transmitter

So far, no camera choice yet, haven't decided on ESC's either or motors to use.

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)
