A new PB for this Tiny plane, but it was a little exciting at the time...

2.4G and 5.8G video using linear antennas.

Failsafe is now set to "Hold" rather than "No Pulses".

Nice going ET, I enjoyed that.

Such a shame that the Z84 doesn't penetrate into wind better.

It's funny how in making a nice flat turn to preserve the video, it caused you to lose control, you had great RSSI up until that point. A steeper turn might not have caused it but at least you know now, and a good test :)

Hi Steve,
Cheers m8, pleased you enjoyed it...Today was almost flat calm, maybe 3mph...I know Blackbirdboys Z84 uses a 4000mah 4S and its a pocket rocket, 6 kms no problem.
Mines a bit of a plodder in comparison but it flies well enough because its light and I only have a little 1300mah 3S in mine.
My VTX is an old TS832 and its mounted halfway up the Fin to bring the CG back a bit, I think it was this which blocked the signal as I turned for Home. Had I turned left, I dont think it would have F.Safed.
Can't complain really for a 2.4G Radio. Its got more than my R9M at the Moment....lol.

congrats on the RB ET!

That 5.8 video link was solid... amazing stuff. what antenna were you using on the ground?

Cheers

Well done on the PB :)

My thoughts are the battery was not to blame there, it shouldn't have dropped instantly to 0 like it did. Were you in an adaptive tx power mode ? I'm wondering if it was a switching point and as it switched up it lost sync completely.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

FPVSteve

Yea your antenna has quite a lot of clearance over the mid-section of the plane to be honest...

Hi m8,
I was using this arrangement in the pic below.  I also sometimes use a pair of these 14dbi Linear Patch antennas giving a wider beam to fly in, but the R. Ducky also works well close in.
I like the antennas everyone throws away...lol
It helps having a numeric RSSI for each antenna on your Monitor when it comes to aiming the antennas.

  Hi Ian,

Thanks, yeah, you are right, it is a new PB for this tiny plane....This model is using 2.4G for control though. It was only the calm conditions that allowed me to fly it out really, it's not very fast in windy conditions.

My Ranger G2 has the R9M and thats not using the experimental 868mhz adaptive power firmware.

No, the vtx on the Z84 is not like in the photo, its an old Boscam TS832 mounted halfway up one of the Fins and I believe it was this that blocked my 2.4G link momentarily. The XM Plus receiver on the port wingtip recovered signal as soon as the model was heading back and the antennas re-orientated.

Nice going Steve - you have massively upped your game since I last saw a flight vid from you.  Exciting to watch, and great that everything works even if it included a failsafe.

FPVSteve

I will take the compliment despite it being ETs video :D

Oops :D  I'm getting so confused with profile images being swapped around... that's my story anyway.  Ignore the fact that I put a video out telling people we were playing with Tiny Whoovers on the AirJackers stand... despite it being Drone Junkies  :-[

Post up a video of you doing 4km quick Steve and then my compliment still stands.  ET well done

FPVSteve

lol :) I think that's called senility. Can't remember... 4km ... hmm! can I pass 2 first lol

My apologies, that would make sense on 2.4GHz I thought it was on 868MHz my bad :)

:thanx!: :thanx!: :thanx!: :thanx!:I feel so much better now, Mr Kitten has credited Steve "Gaffer Tape Boy" with my new PB and, and Ian thinks I did it on 868mhz....lol

Im the old guy here ya know.....:)

Can I have some Karma for not being Senile yet...?.....
