Whilst this looks cool as a demo, I'm not sure how useful it actually is. There is a weight penalty for carrying 4 arm control servos and if it is still stable when all 4 arms folded why bother with folding at all? Just make it smaller in the first place to get through small gaps.

I would say inherently less stable but stable enough to get through smaller gaps.

I agree it's actual usefullness imo is very limited.

Its modern engineering design.
When I did my apprenticeship it was all about finding solutions to problems.
Now it seems to be showing off what can be done then trying to find a use for it.
