That vid'looked like one of "vr flyer" only his had the hands moving like yours.  Nice though ! hope yours is that good , it looks super so far!!

That's correct, it's the one and only VRflyer lol.

His F-16 never had moving hands, only one or two of his other builds like the cap. I assume the F-16 lacked space, or weight was a concern... It's a smaller 70mm based EDF already, and the F-16 is already more slender than the euro as well.

I love the altimeter, it's a zlog - I tired finding one for mine but they were discontinued long ago and there's no available substitute it seems.

rcexplorer had moving hands and stuff on one of the videos he did FPV for FliteTest, the canopy blew off while inverted though :laugh:

So, not technically a build update... but thought I'd post it anyway - a bit of work on my new 10C, fitting the EZUHF.

I ordered a cheap futaba style module from hobby king and proceeded to gut it... I took the case and the connector, then set about figuring out which wires to connect to what. I then went a bit bodge it and came up with a simple way to secure the connector (yeah it ain't pretty but it's functional! note the epoxy over the top to secure the thin wires.)




module put back together and stuck to the EZUHF using double sided foam tape...





and module fitted to radio...









This way it's a bit neater, I can't accidentally knock loose the trainer connector for the EZUHF, and I am free to continue using the trainer port which is quite useful. Fit seems nice and solid, and no interruptions in power/signal despite wiggling it as much as it can move. Jobsa!

Search for  Futaba module replacement case - probably easiest and cheapest option. You then just need a connector - apparently a 4S balance lead works, but not tried it myself.

Just some small updates...

I've now finally finalised my final schematics for the final time! The results are below... I've re-jigged the schematics to more closely resemble real life, included more detail, added the removable cockpit unit, and also included a very small 210mah 4.8v buffer pack for the kontronik. It's maybe overkill but it's a cheap and light insurance against a BEC failure... if I monitor Rx voltage I can set an alarm that will tell me if it drops below a certain point, the BEC when functioning obviously should never do so. If the alarm goes off I therefore know I'm draining the emergency pack and can immediately try to land. Equally if the entire ESC explodes or shuts down, I'll have reserve power to land. The camera and vTX will still be feeding from the flight packs directly. When the system is functioning as it should, the ESC keeps the nimh pack topped up at all times, so there's no separate charging required.

I'm also happy to report that the PPM seems to work fine supplying both the OSD Pro and the decoder up front.








I also have been playing around the removable wing design in my head. I sketched up a quick diagram of what I'm going for I think - I welcome any comments on this design and am open to suggestions. I won't be relying on the magnets for holding the wing on, I will also incorporate a locking mechanism but I'm as yet unsure of the details.

So, here's another little update...

I hooked up the PPM decoder in the cockpit and wired up all the servos (pan/tilt, control stick aileron/elevator, canard servo and thrust levers directly to that. By putting it in the top it means I can keep all the wiring self contained up there with only two inputs to deal with plugging in - the ppm stream and the camera feed.

I then made it hot pluggable, so when I slide the canopy into place it automatically hooks up the connections. I still need to do the canard servo link in the same way since the canard servo of course remains in the airframe. Once done there will be absolutely nothing to plug or unplug when removing the canopy, and it will be a completely self contained unit.

Here you can see the underside of the cockpit, still need to tidy it up a bit but it's all working now... the PPM decoder is on the left hand side, and you can see the plug I made for the inputs.









And here you can see the opposite plug mounted in the fuselage (again some tidying to do here!), and then the cockpit fitted








In the mean time, I've also been getting on with the wings, but the carbon still hasn't arrived for the main spars so I won't bother posting pics yet. However I've installed the 5mm carbon rod at each far end, and decided they may as well be more structural, thus installed some aluminium tube into the fuselage for them to slide into. The wing is actually surprisingly solid just with these two rods installed.... should be perfect with the main spars too.
