Hobby King F-16 Thunderbirds - Pusher Conversion

Hi all, it's Ghetto Steve here with another one of my bodge jobs  :laugh: :laugh:

I really love this F-16 from Hobby King, but it's not without its problems. First off, the ESC was crap. It blew up on the first flight >:( Secondly, the EDF fan blades decided they'd just explode at WOT during launch, which would have done nothing to help my complexion has it not been for the protective er.. foam the fan resided in.

So ... I've converted it to a pusher prop, mounted nicely with super-tightened cable ties  :o :o  :laugh: Oh yes, none of your namby pamby plywood mounts here.

Improvements:
Much smoother
Faster throttle response
Climbs at about 80 degrees ;D
Easier to replace a prop
CoG now requires more weight on the nose = nano FPV gear ;D
Double the flight time
Much quieter
Can't see the prop when its turning, orange motor looks like an afterburner ;D :laugh:

Man this thing flies really great in the wind now that it has power :)

Spec:
2650kv motor running 6x4E prop on a 25A ESC
1000mAh Gens Ace 3 cell lipo
Running on 35MHz because I have a nice small rx fitted :) (my 2.4GHz rx works only with the crappy Cessna radio that doesnt have exp/rates etc.
About 18mins run time ;D

Yeah or stick a servo on it and have vectored thrust

Definitely a big improvement in flight time there, I'm not a fan of EDF as they never seem to have pulling power but your conversion has made the F-16 very nippy.

The video puts a totally different perspective on watching a flight, reminded me a bit of the 'spot the ball' competitions in the papers  :)
