So in 6 months I'm happy to report the following stats on my channel.

Subscribers 50
Views 4592

A healthy number of likes and the odd dislike.

Looking at the engagement most people watch more than 70% of the videos and there have been a fair number of new subscriber engagement from watching videos.

So, back to the Science of it all. I have followed a strategy of making the best videos I can, doing some unusual things like night flights and narrations etc. and engaging with subscribers. My ratio of subscribers to views seems quite off compared to some others I've seen. There are people here with say 47 subs who have had many thousands of views. Is this just a matter of time, or is there an SEO trick or two I can employ to get better view stats?

My average video (lately) gets about 20 - 40 views and up to ten likes on the first day. It stays busy for a while, maybe 7 days and usually climbs above 100. Here's an example. The Twinstar maiden flight at Mad Dogs was posted three days ago. It has 141 views, 7 likes and 16 comments. Some do better, some not as good.

Any advice on how to improve the views and engagement?

My Chief Lecturer ( you know who you are..  :-X )
Always kills our produced media, films etc.
As a way of showing us a ten minute documentary made by one of the students..
Was taken to the editing suite, at that point the lecturer took over and reduced the the same documentary 10 mins,
to just 3.00 mins.. ( to be sure, it was better, far more exciting and memorable! )

He said we have such short attention spans if we don't get the message across in 3 mins its too late and we
naturally drift off..

Just a bit of info that may help.
I produced a short promo for a company total warrior
2 day event, 8 camera men, 2 failed fpv flights, and 155gb of video footage.
Promo 2.18 total run time including titles..
Total warrior2 1

Right, so what were you try to tell me exactly...? Is your advice for getting more subs, more views and better engagement with audience to make 3 minute videos?

I think this is less about film making and more about SEO and playing social media. As for 3 mins of attention I keep mine as short as I can, but FPV is not like advertising in that way...

I don't think the issue is one of the quality of videos, but the content that people want to see.  As FPVers we're already a tiny niche in a niche hobby. 

Look at Video Gaming, in my previous life as recorder of gameendings, the Halo 2 ending on my channel so far has over 1.7m views.  It's not great capture quality, and mainly people argue about the fact that the Legendary ending is the same as the others.

However, what I have noticed is that people tend to be drawn towards more informative things than purely lovely flights.  I've noticed little spikes in views (and most of my FPV vide generate 50 - 200 views) if it's about something - howto do, or a review or something similar.

I think one of my best videos I made was one flying 1km away in the New Forest, but a video I made where the title was "Naza FPV testing - why the sun is not your friend" and "First flights on the KK2 board" eclipse this several times over. 

I'm guessing because FPV is very niche, that people like to go after information - if they are thinking of buying a quad or a KK2, then odds on they'll watch this instead of my lovely New forest video.

You've mentioned yourself, and I think we all tend to agree - that watching a narrated video is generally more interesting than some scenes of flying and music.

Incidently - I sent my OSD "review" of my Suppo OSD to Suppo - saying "look at this and tell me if there's a problem", and a new OSD popped through the door last week :D
