Theoretical question on RTL with FY31-AP

If my altitude is lets say 100m, will the RTL maintain that altitude until it gets back to the launch site?

Unfortunately not..... what we need is terrain detection and avoidance so it bobs up and down over any hills in the way back  :)

I think the Dragon OSD lets you set a height to move to, don't know about RVOSD though....

Guys, does the 31 actually manage the throttle to keep alt or is it like with the 21 where you set say 50% and the module gives a little elevator?

The way I read the manual I would say more the later
If you set the failsafe at zero throttle the 31ap cant give it any
your supposed to set throttle at cruise, and the way I read it the 31 can then control throttle, but maybe your right and it only controls elevator

It is supposed too, but many have tried and reverted back to tx control of throttle then 50%+ throttle for failsafe because the FY seems to do random things with the throttle output for some reason.

Hrmm... that could be really bad news for me when I throw it off the top of the hill and start flying down the valley. Is there any way to overide that behavior and set a fixed altitude for RTH?

Not yet Col, but I think the idea is that you would get control back pretty soon after you have failsafed.

I don`t think that return home keeping the height your at is really that daft. Carry on at the height your at seems logical, you got there at that height, so makes sense to return at that height. The logic I think they worked off was they presumed you would be flying from the ground with the plane higher than yourself, and being FPV with a clear LOS from you to the plane, thus you would not need to gain height as to get where you were in the first place LOS must have been kept so the altitude your at is fine for the return.

DOSD has a cruise height setting once within home area, but not before it, two planes I had with it on dived to the preset altitude, then dived past it straight to earth and I had to retake control to stop it destroying my plane, so that feature I can live without for sure :)

I haven't even powered it up yet and I'm already wishing I hadn't got it.

Same here, but I had no intention of using waypoints, although recent threads are showing it working fine.

Half the problem with the problems are people doing it / setting it up wrong in the first place. I`m still not convinced to plug into GCS yet though tbh
