Took a lickle shock from a lipo (via wedding ring bridging a deans connector)

Learning experiance...
I run a pair of 14v lipos in my plane with a loom with 2 x Deans. What I didn't think about is when one lipo is discconected (like when packing up after a flight), one of the deans in the loom has live exposed ends.

I now have a lickle black burn in my finger the size of a pencil led and a ruff bit in my wedding ring.

I'd suggest taking your rings off if your tinkering with electrics as for an instant I must have bridged the deans + & - with my ring....

.. fecking hope I haven't fried anything.. I can't bring myself to look yet.  :'(

Ouch! The best way is to make sure all deans are replaced with XT60's.

Those deans have always been a pain  >:(

The only thing you would possibly be able to fry is the LiPo.  Would suggest just monitoring it a bit closer than normal on the next charge, but you should be ok.

I've had the same btw, but with charging, not on the plane - agreed XT's 60's are way better and the solder joint and heat shrink never pull away. I would suggest disconnecting the esc end first, then one at a time on batteries as a habit.

Was that painful...? Johnny understands :)

Love is a burning thing
and it makes a fiery ring
bound by wild desire
I fell in to a ring of fire...

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down,down,down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire
the ring of fire.

Sure the loom should be wired with the supply always having a female connector....  It's hard to get a shock from a female connector...

FPVSteve

Every lipo i've ever bought with deans connectors, has had the female on the battery.

I think what the Op was saying, is that he has two Lipos in parallel using a Y lead.  When he removes one battery from the circuit, it leaves a male deans floating whilst he disconnects the other.  I have the same issue on my Skywalker as I use 2 x 3S 4000mAh packs in parallel.

Yes not good, its not as if you could safely pull two lipos at once so your always going to have a life exposed male end. XT60`s solve that ;)
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)
