the long awaited update is here :D

thUndeadMOD v 4.0 Final

Firmware Features

this FW should be rock solid. papa_lazerous did a 8km round trip using it with rssi at 50% so much more scope :D
Included Flashing guide should hopefully clarify how to properly flash the fw without burning our rf chips or tearing a hole in the universe :D

All that said, this is the end of DEV for me. Think I got as much as I could from this system and its time to move on to other projects. Might get back to Olrs when there will be a better hw implementation. Would like to thank everyone who helped in debugging and testing my work and never lost faith in my mad coding skills hahaha

Trying to use "thUndeadMod v4 Configurator" to generate code for Rx but it keeps
failing with :-




When I click on "Export FW"

Tried all combinations of settings but none work.

Can generate Tx code fine.

Anyone else been able to generate Rx code OK ?

Just loaded it up and getting the same thing too with 4 Final. 3.6 loads fine. Just trying to get some time to test it. 3.6 config GUI working fine.

Mihai, just a note, its a bit tricky to get the firmware if you are running Linux as your EXE is windows only :)

Also, compile fails on Linux Arduino, as it is case sensitive, so the config filename needs to be either all lower case or a change to the main code, line 26, to put the 'c' of Config in upper case.

Looking forward to getting in the air :)

WOW!!!  :D

Finally got out to do a range test and I'm blown away. I wasn't able to get out in the clear (would have to drive out to the lake) so I decided to try non-line of site near home. Put a moxon rectangle on the TX thru 80 feet of LMR400 and mounted this on a pool brush pole. Put my easystar FPV pod on the dash of my van with a crosshair dipole on the roof. Fed video to my laptop. Although the signal was glitchy as expected because of non line of site, trees and fresnel zone issues, I was able to go out almost 3 miles (13,700 feet) before losing the signal completely.

What really impressed me was the ability of thUndeadMOD's code to stay locked or to re-sync under these condition. The area I live in is flat and lots of trees. That and 80feet of LMR400 gave me a 3dB loss so I was only radiating 50-60mWatts.

I had fun with it! The pod is out of my Easystar. Put my Turnigy9x with ER9x into servo test mode so it cycles the servo back and forth. Great for range checking. Also trying out horizontal antennas so I get less loss on the turn back to home when the plane banks. Cross hair dipoles are basically multi-polarized close to a sphere.

RSSI seemed to work awesome. Didn't really spend much time calibrating so max was around 80% and lost signal dropped to -5%. Still was usable at 5%. Also seemed to drop linearly as I drove out.

Next is to test with the Flyton power amp!!  :P

OK - finally got the scope out and found the Serial PPM output, it is always on pin 4 unless SERIAL_PPM_TYPE = 0

I've left it at 2 for now and with my DragonOSD attached to pin 4 it seems to be working, just need to reconfigure the servo stream in the OSD as that appears to have changed between the actual transmitter through the OpenLRS TX/RX?

I am curious what ever happened to a linux version?  I don't even have a windows system up and running right now!  Also where is the source?  Thanks!

Thundeadmod is the program code that you upload into OpenLrs transmitters and receivers.

Thundead has written the code himself to get the best you can from the components and incorporates many features and customizable options compare to other codes.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)
