Hello -  Gav here and live next door to the Sports Ground in Lordswood, Southampton.  I confirm Pickett post is a great spot to fpv.   Plenty of space and perfect if nobody else about / in the carpark. You can setup your FPV clobber behind a bush and not be seen from the adjacent road lol. When Simon and myself met up there for an hour or so fpv'ing a couple turned up to chill out in the Sun and drink beer and saw us there with our stuff, but they didn't seem bothered (why would they).  I mean all they would of seen was 2 blokes sitting in camping chairs with weird headsets and goggles saying wow nice view up here / fly closer hehe lol and the sound of whirring motors in the far distance  :laugh:

look forward to a meet up of some kind!  ps i cant wait for the security verification letter typing to end on my post replies, as I cannot read the letters  :o  4th attempt lol

I think Stoney Cross is better for a lot of reasons. I've done Picket Post many times, but it's all valley in front of the car park, other side of the road is a long hill, but no features, just Heather with a busy road to Burley and the M27 too close for comfort I think. It's a small place, the car park is always full and tons of ponies and dog walkers. I think we'll have problems there.

At Stoney Cross it's very spread out - none too exciting terrain (except for the fact it's on a WWII airfield) but away from roads if you go in a bit. Lots of ponies but they're not frightened if you keep some alt and glide over them.

I am in 100% and will come down from Oxford any day. I think someone just needs to make a date and commit before the weather turns. I'll either stay at a guest house in Minstead £28 or camp at the site.

It's all gone quiet on this thread - needs someone to call out a date. So hows everyone for next Saturday (18th August) for Stoney Cross (as Flyboysee has argued so passionately for it)

Ok guys, there you have it:

Stoney Cross on the 1st September (Saturday) - that sorts Hase and Krikey out, and Jim and I will do any date. How does that work for CurryKitten, Gav and Asomaro?

Let's do it! No need for this meet up thread to fall apart. If it does I will be there from early in the morning.
